Overview
The Perko 1421 is a removable bi-color pole and utility light for power-driven vessels under 20 meters, giving the bow red and green navigation light coverage plus a deck-illuminating utility light from one plug-in pole assembly.
It uses a 12 Volt bulb, has a 0 degree rake, and is 2-mile USCG 2nm certified. The pole is built around a 3/4 inch diameter anodized aluminum tube with a black polymer top and collar, red and green lenses, and a locking collar for a secure fit at the base.
This style works well on fishing boats, runabouts, and small powerboats where the forward light needs to be removed and stowed when the deck is being used. The light requires a 3-pin mounting base and fits Perko 1045 and 1047 bases.
Key features
- Bi-color red and green bow navigation light with an integrated utility light for deck illumination.
- Certified for use on power-driven vessels under 20 meters, with 2-mile USCG 2nm visibility certification.
- Stow-A-Way plug-in pole can be removed when not in use, leaving the deck area clearer for fishing or boarding.
- 3/4 inch diameter anodized aluminum tube helps the pole handle normal marine use while keeping weight manageable.
- Black polymer top and collar with red and green lenses give a clean look at the bow.
- Locking collar helps keep the pole seated in the compatible 3-pin base.
- 0 degree rake suits vertical installations where the base and pole are intended to sit straight.
- Requires a 3-pin mounting base and fits Perko 1045 and 1047 bases.
Variants
This removable bi-color pole and utility light is offered in two pole lengths, so the main difference is how high the light sits above the deck once installed.
Both variants share the same 12 Volt bulb type, 0 degree rake, locking collar, 3/4 inch diameter anodized aluminum tube, 3-pin base requirement, and 2-mile USCG 2nm certification.
- 1421DP2CHR: 12 inch pole length. This shorter pole suits lower-profile bow areas where the light only needs to clear nearby deck hardware and normal sightlines.
- 1421DP3CHR: 17-1/4 inch pole length. The taller pole raises the light higher above the deck, which can help when the bow has accessories or a trolling motor nearby.
Installation and fit
This is the pole light assembly and it must be used with a compatible 3-pin mounting base. Before replacing an existing pole, confirm the base style, pin count, pole rake, and required pole length so the light sits correctly and locks into place.
Because the unit includes both navigation and deck illumination functions, the boat wiring and base need to support the correct 3-pin arrangement. It is a practical match for small powerboats that need a removable bow light rather than a fixed light mounted permanently on the deck.
Use on board
The removable pole format is helpful on casting decks and open bow layouts where a fixed bow light can get in the way during daytime use. At night or in low visibility, the pole plugs back into the base for red and green navigation lighting, while the utility light helps with close work around the foredeck.
