Overview
The Lopolight 301-109 PRO Series is a 3 NM red port sidelight with a 112.5° sector for horizontal mounting on vessels over 50 m (164 ft).
It is used to meet the port-side navigation requirement under COLREGs on larger commercial vessels and superyachts. The light is sealed to IP68, and the electronics are potted in epoxy so it keeps working through washdowns and vibration.
Housing parts are aluminum with an anodized finish, and the lens is PMMA. Power and mounting details vary by configuration, with standard versions listed for DC systems up to 32 V.
Key features
- 3 nautical mile visibility with >15 cd intensity
- 112.5° red port sector for sidelight placement
- IP68 sealing for wet mounting locations
- Epoxy-potted electronics to handle vibration on working boats
- Anodized aluminum housing with PMMA lens and A4 stainless steel screws
- Plug connector connection on listed configurations
- Options across the range include built-in de-icing and IEC Ex Zone 1 certified configurations
Variants
This product family is offered in multiple configurations.
Across the range, Version changes the feature set (standard, built-in de-icing, and IEC Ex Zone 1 certified options), and Style changes the physical format between single stack and double stack. Electrical input range, current draw, and wiring requirements can differ when de-icing or hazardous-area features are specified.
Installation and setup
Mount the light on the port side with the lens oriented so the sector is aligned correctly fore and aft for a sidelight. Keep the fixture clear of rails, antennas, and overhangs that can cut into the viewing sector or cause reflections.
PRO Series installations commonly use an isolating base plate to reduce galvanic interaction between the light assembly and the mounting surface, which is helpful on aluminum, steel, and mixed-metal structures. Bed and fasten the base the same way you would other above-waterline deck hardware, and route the cable so it is protected from chafe and water paths.
Electrical and system integration
The light runs from DC power. Standard configurations are listed for 10 to 32 VDC and draw about 2.2 W for the light function, which is around 153 mA at 12 VDC and 92 mA at 24 VDC.
Configurations with built-in de-icing add heating elements, so plan for higher current and confirm conductor size and circuit protection based on the chosen variant and your vessel standards.
Use cases on board
This series is a good match when you need a certified 3 NM port sidelight on a vessel over 50 m, especially where the fixture sees spray, washdowns, and continuous vibration. De-icing versions suit cold-weather routes where ice can build on the lens, and Ex versions are used in areas where hazardous-atmosphere certification is required.
