Overview
The Lopolight 301-005 PRO Series is a 2 NM, 135° white stern navigation light for horizontal mounting at the transom or an aft structure. It is rated IP68 and uses a black hard coat anodized aluminum housing (50 µ) with a PMMA lens and A4 stainless steel fasteners.
Across the range you will see a compact Ø92.5 mm footprint, with height changing by style: the single stack body is Ø92.5 mm x 74.5 mm and the double stack body is Ø92.5 mm x 96.5 mm. Standard PRO configurations run on 10-32 VDC with a 1.3 W draw, and the EX-certified configurations have their own electrical and installation details depending on model.
This stern light is approved to COLREG72, EN14744, IEC 60945, IACS E10, and USCG, with additional class and hazardous-area approvals on specific configurations. It is listed across vessel size categories up to 50 m (164 ft), so it can suit anything from larger yachts to commercial workboats when the light plan calls for a 2 NM stern sector.
Key features
- 2 NM white stern light with a 135° sector for horizontal mounting
- IP68 sealing for exposed stern locations and washdowns
- Black hard coat anodized aluminum housing (50 µ) with PMMA lens and A4 stainless steel screws
- Standard PRO electrical range: 10-32 VDC with a 1.3 W draw (about 110 mA at 12 V, 50 mA at 24 V)
- Single stack profile: Ø92.5 mm x 74.5 mm; double stack profile: Ø92.5 mm x 96.5 mm
- Double stack versions provide two independent lights with separate power connections (primary and secondary)
- Built-in de-icing configurations are available for sub-zero operation, with temperature ratings depending on the selected version
- EX-certified options are available for hazardous areas, including configurations with IEC Ex and ATEX Zone 1 approvals
Variants
This series is offered in Single Stack and Double Stack body styles. Single Stack keeps the height low where the lens has a clear aft view, while Double Stack adds height and a second, separately powered light for redundancy.
Version options include Standard, IEC Ex certified, built-in de-icing, and a combined de-icing plus IEC Ex configuration. Electrical input and supplied installation hardware vary by version, so confirm the operating-voltage requirement and whether cable glands or a grounding strap are included when planning your cable routing and deck penetrations.
Compatibility and fit
Use this light where a 135° stern sector is required and where it will not be shaded by davits, antennas, rails, or trim. Check that the Ø92.5 mm footprint fits the available flat area and that the cable exit direction suits your routing inside the transom, stern rail base, or aft mast structure.
The PRO series is listed for vessel size categories up to 50 m, but your final light selection should always match your vessel length, mounting height, and local or class requirements for navigation lights.
Installation and wiring
Mount the light horizontally and align it to the vessel centerline before tightening the fasteners. Standard PRO and ice-class versions mount on a POM base (IP68) with an HDPE base plate, and the cable glands accept 7-13 mm cable diameter. EX versions mount on an aluminum base and may be supplied without cable glands or a grounding strap, depending on configuration.
Power the light from a protected navigation-light circuit. A recommended fuse or breaker is less than 2 A (slow). For cabled wiring, red is positive and black is negative. For units with the plug connector, the primary light uses pins 1 (+) and 2 (-); double lights also use pins 4 (+) and 5 (-) for the secondary light.
Avoid bonding the light housing to ship’s ground. If your cable has a shield, terminate the screen to ground where your electrical practice requires it, and route wiring away from chafe points, heat sources, and high-current motors.
Materials and environmental protection
The housing is black hard coat anodized aluminum (50 µ) and the assembly is rated IP68, which suits stern locations that see spray and regular washdowns. The PMMA lens and sealed construction help keep optics and electronics protected from moisture and vibration.
Maintenance and care
Clean the lens with a damp cloth and a mild detergent. Avoid alcohol or thinner, which can damage the lens.
The light performs a brief self-check after power-up and uses an off-pulse pattern to signal end-of-life well before it stops working, which helps you plan replacement during routine service. The projected lifetime is 50,000 hours.
