Overview

The Perko 1181DP0CHR is a fold-down combination masthead and white all-round light for sail or power driven vessels under 20 meters (65.6 ft.) in length. It combines both light functions in one assembly, carries a 3-mile USCG 3nm rating, and stands 14-1/4 inches high on a 3/4 inch anodized aluminum tube.

This horizontal-mount version uses a black polymer top and base with a clear polymer lens and gold-plated contacts. The reduced-glare layout helps cut light spill back toward the helm, which matters on night passages where stray light can wear on your eyes.

For fit checks, the base measures 2 inches by 1-1/2 inches with 1-3/8 inch center-to-center mounting dimensions and a #8 screw size. It comes set up for 12V use with two 10 watt bulbs, and it can be used on a 24V system with the correct 24V bulb change.

Installation and setup

This light is built for horizontal mounting and works well where a fold-down assembly makes more sense than a fixed upright pole. The supplied adapters help it sit properly on flat or V-type surfaces, which is useful around windshield frames and similar mounting points where the base angle matters.

Wire planning is worth checking before installation. When underway, the forward compartment is used as the masthead light with the rest of the running lights, while both compartments are energized together for the white all-round anchor-light function, so the switching arrangement needs to be set up correctly for both modes.
