Overview
The Lopolight 301-005 Series Stern Light is a 135° white stern navigation light rated for 2 nautical miles of visibility, with a horizontal-mount footprint for aft installations on vessels up to 50 m (164 ft). It runs on 10-32 VDC, so it fits both 12 V and 24 V electrical systems, and the housing is built for exposed mounting where salt spray, washdowns, and vibration are normal.
This series is used when you want a compact stern light that meets the common navigation-light standards for larger yachts and cruisers. The light output is focused through PMMA optics, and the internal electronics are fully potted to help keep water out and reduce failures from vibration.
Key features
- 2 nautical mile, 135° stern light output for vessels up to 50 m (164 ft).
- Horizontal mounting format suited to transoms, aft rails, and aft superstructure faces where the stern sector stays clear.
- 10-32 VDC input supports both 12 V and 24 V onboard systems.
- IP68-rated build with fully potted electronics to handle washdowns and long-term vibration.
- Complies with COLREG72, EN14744, IEC 60945, and USCG (UL1104) requirements.
- Available as single stack or double stack; double stack versions allow the two lights to be powered separately.
- Finish options include silver anodized, black anodized, and white ceramic-coated housings.
- Covered by a 5-year limited warranty.
Variants
This series is offered with two mounting styles and three finish options. Style changes between Single Stack and Double Stack, and finish changes between Silver, Black, and White.
Single Stack is a single stern light body. Double Stack combines two stern lights in one unit, with separate circuits so they can be controlled independently. The White finish uses a ceramic-coated housing, while Silver and Black finishes use anodized aluminum; wiring interface can vary by configuration, so match the connection style to how you plan to terminate wiring at the mounting point.
Installation and setup
Mount the light where the 135° stern sector is not blocked by davits, outboards, antennas, or a swim platform. A small offset or a low mounting height can create shadows in the required sector, so it is worth checking sightlines from port and starboard aft before drilling.
For best results in saltwater, bed the fasteners and pass-through with marine sealant and support the cable so it does not flex at the housing. On aluminum and carbon structures, use proper isolation practices for dissimilar materials and follow the vessel builder’s corrosion-control approach.
Electrical and system integration
Power is 10-32 VDC, so this fits common DC buses without a converter. Use a properly protected circuit sized to the vessel’s wiring plan and route the cable away from ignition wiring and high-current runs where possible.
On Double Stack versions, plan for two independent feeds if you intend to control each light separately. Confirm how you will connect at the mounting point before installation, especially on tight transoms where access is limited.
Use cases on board
This series suits yachts, sportfishers, and larger cruisers that need a 2 NM stern light in a compact housing, especially on boats that see regular washdowns or offshore vibration. It also fits refits where you are replacing older incandescent stern lights and want a modern footprint without reworking the vessel’s DC system.
Maintenance and care
Rinse salt off the lens and housing with fresh water and clean with mild soap to keep the optics clear. During routine checks, confirm the light is still aligned, the cable is strain-relieved, and the sealant around fasteners and cable exits is intact.
