Overview
The Perko 0647DP0CHR is a horizontal-mount bi-color LED navigation light with a chrome-plated zinc alloy top and a black polymer base. It combines the red and green sidelight functions in one bow-mounted unit for power-driven vessels under 20 meters, giving small boats and cruisers a clean LED replacement or upgrade where a compact forward navigation light is needed.
This 12 Volt LED light is rated at 2.5 watts and draws 0.21 amps, so it keeps electrical load low compared with older incandescent fixtures. The light is 2-mile USCG 2nm certified and measures 3-3/8 in. long by 2-1/2 in. wide by 1-1/2 in. high, which helps when checking deck space, windshield base clearance, or an existing bow light footprint before installation.
Key features
- Horizontal-mount bi-color navigation light with red and green output in one forward fixture.
- Certified for power-driven vessels under 20 meters in USA and European markets.
- 2-mile USCG 2nm certification for required navigation visibility on properly equipped boats.
- 12 Volt LED operation with 2.5-watt power use and 0.21-amp current draw.
- Chrome-plated zinc alloy top paired with a black polymer base for a finished look on exposed deck areas.
- Uses self-contained LED modules, reducing the maintenance associated with replaceable incandescent bulbs.
- Same footprint perimeter as Perko 0627 and 0628 incandescent lights, although the wiring hole and mounting screw locations may vary.
- Installs with #6 screws and has a compact 3-3/8 in. x 2-1/2 in. x 1-1/2 in. body.
Installation and fit
This light is made for horizontal mounting, typically on the bow, foredeck, or another forward-facing location where the red and green sectors have a clear, unobstructed view. Before drilling, check the mounting surface, wire exit, and screw spacing against the existing light, especially when replacing an older 0627 or 0628 incandescent unit.
Because the housing is compact, it suits many runabouts, center consoles, small cruisers, and other powerboats where deck space is limited. The chrome top also works well where the light remains visible on a polished or classic-style deck layout.
Electrical and compliance notes
The unit is for 12 Volt LED navigation-light circuits. It should be wired into the boat's protected navigation-light switch circuit using proper marine wiring practices, with polarity, fuse protection, and connections checked during installation.
Its certifications include ABYC C-5, NMMA Type Accepted, EN/ISO 19009:2015, ABYC A-16 2016, 1972 COLREGS, RCD 2013/53/EU, and USCG 33 CFR for 2nm use. Correct placement remains important, since even a certified navigation light must be mounted where railings, anchors, canvas, or bow hardware do not block the required light sectors.
Use cases on board
This is a practical match for powerboats under 65.6 feet that need a low-draw LED bow navigation light for evening returns, early fishing departures, coastal cruising, or general night operation. It is also useful when refreshing an older incandescent bow light while keeping a similar deck footprint and a traditional chrome appearance.
