Overview

The Perko 0945DP0CHR is a vertical-mount stern light for replacement use on sail or power-driven vessels under 20 meters (65.6 ft.) in length. It has a chrome-plated brass top, a black polymer base, gold-plated contacts, and 2-mile visibility.

It is supplied with a 12-volt bulb and runs at 10 watts and 0.80 amps. The outside diameter of the base is 2-3/8 inches and the projection is 1-3/8 inches, which helps when you are matching an older mounting footprint or working with limited space at the stern.

Installation and fit

This light mounts on a vertical surface that sits perpendicular to the boat centerline and faces astern. It uses #4 mounting screws, and the mounting template allows either two 1/2 inch wiring clearance holes or one 1-3/8 inch center hole, depending on how the wiring is routed.

Orientation matters on a stern light. The bulb position is indexed by the arrow molded into the base, and that arrow should point straight up when the light is installed. It suits owners replacing an older bulb-style stern light and wanting to keep the same mounting style instead of reworking the aft structure.

Electrical and service

The fixture is supplied with a 12-volt bulb. A matching 24-volt bulb is available for installations that use 24-volt lighting circuits. The bulb, lens, and base and socket assembly are replaceable, which is useful when keeping an older navigation light setup in service.
