Overview
The Perko 0945DP0STS is a vertical mount stern light with a polished stainless steel top, a black polymer base, and 2-mile visibility for sail or power-driven vessels under 20 meters (65.6 ft.) in length. It is supplied with a 12V bulb and is rated at 10 watts and 0.80 amps.
This is a compact incandescent stern light for boats that need a fixed white aft light rather than a pole light. The round base measures 2-3/8 inches in outside diameter and the housing projects 1-3/8 inches from the mounting surface, which helps when you are matching an existing footprint on the transom, coaming, or other vertical mounting point.
Its stainless steel top gives it a cleaner finished look than painted metal, while the black polymer base helps separate the metal cap from the mounting surface. Gold-plated contacts are used inside the light, which matters on a boat where moisture and corrosion can shorten the life of ordinary contacts.

Compatibility and fit
This light belongs at the stern and is meant to complete the aft white sector in a conventional navigation-light setup. It is not a side light or bi-color light, so it should be matched with the correct bow or side lights already on the boat.
It works well for owners replacing an older compact stern light on a runabout, small cruiser, sailboat, or other vessel under 20 meters that still uses incandescent navigation lighting. The compact footprint is especially useful when there is limited flat space at the mounting point.
Installation and setup
The housing mounts on a vertical surface that is perpendicular to the boat's centerline. During installation, the molded arrow in the base needs to point vertically upward so the bulb sits in the correct position for the stern-light sector.
The included bulb is for 12V systems. The same Figure 0945 housing can also be used in certain 24V A.B.Y.C. A-16 replacement applications on boats built prior to 11/1/03 when fitted with the correct 24V bulb, but the light as supplied comes with a 12V bulb.
