Overview
The Garmin BlueChart g3 is an electronic chart for the Norway coast covering the Sognefjorden to Svefjorden area, built for use on compatible Garmin chartplotters with a microSD/SD card slot.
This coverage includes key areas such as Alesund, Kristiansund, Hitra, and Trondheim, and it adds practical layers like Auto Guidance that calculates a suggested route using your preferred depth and overhead clearance. Depth Range Shading supports up to 10 depth ranges, and the charting can include up to 1-foot contours for a clearer read of bottom structure.
This region is available in two chart families: BlueChart g3 Vision (regional code VEU052R) and BlueChart g3 (regional code HXEU052R). The Vision version adds extra presentation layers such as 3D views and imagery where supported, while the standard g3 version focuses on the core navigation and fishing chart layers.

Variants
This chart is offered in multiple configurations to match the chart family you want (BlueChart g3 Vision or BlueChart g3) and how you want to receive it (pre-programmed card or download).
The coverage area stays tied to the Sognefjorden to Svefjorden region, while the BlueChart version changes the available viewing layers and presentation features. The format changes how you load the chart into your system.
- 010-C0788-00: BlueChart g3 Vision, SD Card. Pre-programmed card for chartplotters with an SD card slot, so you can insert the card and access the chart coverage directly from the plotter.
- 010-D0458-00: BlueChart g3 Vision, Download. Download delivery that is installed to a micro/SD card using Garmin Express; that card is then used in the chartplotter, and one chart is installed per card.
- 010-C0788-20: BlueChart g3, SD Card. Pre-programmed card in the standard BlueChart g3 format for the same Norway region coverage and core chart layers.
- 010-D0301-00: BlueChart g3, Download. Download delivery for the standard BlueChart g3 format, installed to a micro/SD card using Garmin Express for use in the chartplotter.
Compatibility and setup
These charts are meant for Garmin marine chartplotters that support BlueChart g3 or BlueChart g3 Vision and read mapping from a microSD/SD card. If your unit supports premium chart views, the Vision version can unlock extra perspectives like 3D and imagery overlays in supported areas.
For the download format, plan on using a computer with Garmin Express and a dedicated micro/SD card. The chart lives on that card, so it needs to be inserted in the chartplotter whenever you want to view the mapping.
Use on board
This is a solid match for skippers cruising the fjords, running between ports along the Norway coast, or fishing structure where contour detail and depth shading help with planning. It is also handy for anyone who wants their plotter to calculate a suggested route using boat-specific depth and clearance preferences, then follow it with local chart context on screen.
