Overview
The Simrad HALO 200X/300X power and Ethernet cable is the pedestal interconnection lead that links the radar to the RI-50 interface module, carrying scanner power and Ethernet radar data in one run. It is offered in 10 m and 30 m lengths, and the cable jacket is about 10.5 mm in diameter, which matters when you are sizing glands, conduit, and pass-through holes.
One end connects to the radar pedestal with a 14-pin plug, and the RI-50 end uses an RJ45 connection for the SCANNER data port along with separate conductors that land on the RI-50 SCANNER POWER terminals. For this radar platform, 30 m is the maximum supported run between the pedestal and the RI-50.
In the same install, the RI-50 is powered from a 12 V or 24 V DC system (12 V system limits are 10.8 V to 15.6 V DC) and is typically protected with a dedicated 25 A fuse or circuit breaker. This cable handles the pedestal side of the wiring so the radar can be placed on a mast, hardtop, tower, or wheelhouse roof without splitting power and data into separate runs.
Key features
- Single cable run between the HALO 200X/300X pedestal and the RI-50 for both radar Ethernet data and scanner power
- 14-pin pedestal connector plus an RJ45 data connection at the RI-50 end for the SCANNER port
- Separate power conductors at the RI-50 end to terminate into the SCANNER POWER connectors
- Approx. 10.5 mm cable diameter for planning deck glands, conduits, and cable routing
- Supports up to a 30 m pedestal-to-RI-50 cable run on this system
Variants
This cable is available in multiple lengths to suit different mounting heights and routing paths between the radar pedestal and the RI-50 interface module.
Length is the change across the range. The connector layout and termination approach stay consistent, with the pedestal end plugging in and the RI-50 end handling data via RJ45 plus power conductors into the SCANNER POWER terminals.
- 000-15767-001: Length 10 m. This length is commonly used when the RI-50 is mounted close to the cable drop, such as in a console electronics bay under a hardtop or short mast.
- 000-15769-001: Length 30 m. This length covers longer pulls through towers and taller masts, and it matches the maximum supported interconnection length for this radar platform.
Installation and setup
Plan the route like you would for any critical topside electronics cable: keep it clear of sharp edges, heat sources, moving rigging, and areas where water can sit around connectors. If you are passing the RJ45 end through a bulkhead, a 14 mm hole is typically sufficient, while passing the 14-pin end may require about 24 mm clearance.
When pulling the cable through the vessel, protect the connectors and transfer pulling strain to the outer jacket rather than the plugs. At the pedestal, align the 14-pin connector carefully to avoid bent pins, then secure the locking collar fully before sealing up the run.
Electrical and network integration
On the RI-50 side, the RJ45 from this cable connects to the SCANNER port for radar data and control signals. The power conductors terminate into the RI-50 SCANNER POWER connectors, so leave enough service loop to work cleanly inside the interface box without tension on the terminations.
Power for the RI-50 itself comes from the boat's 12 V or 24 V DC system, typically through a dedicated 25 A fuse or circuit breaker. Once the RI-50 is powered and connected, radar data is distributed over Ethernet to a compatible Simrad display or to an Ethernet switch on the vessel network.
Use notes on board
This cable is a straightforward match for anyone installing, re-routing, or replacing the pedestal interconnect on a HALO 200X or HALO 300X open array system. It is especially relevant on boats where the radar is mounted high and the RI-50 lives down in a dry electronics space, so cable length and routing clearances are the deciding factors.
