Overview
This Vimar LED driver is a constant-voltage power supply for 12V and 24V LED strip modules, with versions for either 230V 50Hz or 120V 60Hz input. It works with MASTER dimmers and delivers up to 1,700 mA with output power around 24 W, which makes it suitable for compact onboard strip-light circuits where smooth dimming and a steady low-voltage output matter.
The housing is IP20 with Protection Class II, so it belongs in a dry interior mounting position such as behind a panel, inside joinery, or in a protected locker rather than on deck or in any washdown area. This unit is for constant-voltage LED strip modules, not for 230V LED lamps, constant-current loads, or 0-10V and 1-10V ballast systems.
For boats, it makes the most sense where the lighting run is fed from the vessel's AC side, whether that comes from shore power, a generator, or an inverter. The long, low-profile body measures 218 x 60.5 x 36.6 mm, which helps when space is limited behind interior panels.
Key features
- Constant-voltage output for 12V or 24V LED strip modules
- Versions available for 230V 50Hz or 120V 60Hz AC input
- Output current up to 1,700 mA with output power around 24 W
- Compatible with MASTER dimmers for dimmable lighting circuits
- IP20 plastic housing with Protection Class II for dry interior installation
- 218 x 60.5 x 36.6 mm form factor for tight service spaces behind panels or cabinetry
Variants
This product is offered in two input-power configurations for different AC systems on board.
Across both versions, the output side remains the same with 12V to 24V constant-voltage operation, output current up to 1,700 mA, output power around 24 W, IP20 protection, Protection Class II, and the same overall dimensions. The change between variants is the primary input voltage and frequency.
- VM01874: 230V, 50Hz input. This version suits vessels and dockside electrical systems built around 230V AC service.
- VM01874.120: 120V, 60Hz input. This version matches boats and shore-power installations that use 120V AC service at 60Hz.
Installation and setup
Before fitting the driver, match the input version to the boat's AC supply and confirm that the LED strip modules are designed for constant-voltage operation on a 12V or 24V DC lighting circuit. Because the enclosure is IP20, mount it where it stays dry and where routine access is still possible for service work.
Its slim length can be useful behind interior liners, inside lockers, or in cabinet voids, but it still needs a clean mounting surface and sensible cable routing. On refit jobs, it is worth checking that the existing dimming control is a compatible MASTER dimmer before treating it as a direct swap.
Compatibility and fit
This driver is a good match for interior strip-light installations in cabins, companionways, saloons, and similar protected spaces where AC power is already available on board. It is less suitable for open deck lighting, exposed lockers, or circuits that depend on direct DC input on the primary side.
