Overview

The Hella Marine LED Surface Mount 0869 Oblong Courtesy Lamp is a surface-mount LED light for low-level lighting around steps, toe kicks, companionways, and lockers on 12V or 24V DC systems. It runs on Multivolt 12/24V DC and draws 0.5W (less than 0.04A at 12V and less than 0.02A at 24V).

It is IP67 sealed, so it can be installed in wet or dry areas on board. The polished 316 stainless steel rim frames a UV-resistant lens, and the low-profile body sits about 9 mm proud of the mounting surface.

Fit-wise, the face is 84 mm wide by 29 mm high, with about 10 mm mounting depth behind the panel. It comes pre-wired with 120 mm of marine cable, so plan a nearby connection point behind a liner, in a locker, or inside a console.

• 980869301: Light color White. A neutral white output that suits general walkway and step lighting.
• 980869401: Light color Warm White. A warmer tone that feels softer in cabins and companionways.

Installation and setup

Mounting is straightforward: drill a 10 mm hole for the cable, feed the lead through, make the two-wire connection, and fasten the lamp with the supplied stainless screws. The end caps are used to finish the ends after mounting, keeping the install tidy around the fasteners.

Because the lead is 120 mm, it helps to place a connection point close to the lamp. Use marine-grade connections and seal splices from moisture, especially when mounting in cockpits, transoms, or exterior steps.

Compatibility and fit

Before ordering, confirm you have room for an 84 mm by 29 mm footprint and about 10 mm of depth behind the mounting surface. If you are replacing an older courtesy light, also check that the 10 mm cable pass-through hole location will work with existing wiring runs.
