Overview
The Blue Sea Systems 8051 is a DC digital voltmeter panel for checking battery-bank or system voltage from 7 to 60V DC. It uses a 4-digit display and is built around the 8235 DC Digital Voltmeter in a 0.125 in Aluminum 5052 Alloy panel.
This is the kind of meter that makes sense when you want a fixed voltage readout at the helm, nav station, or main electrical panel instead of reaching for a handheld tester. The 3-position selector switch lets you move between multiple battery banks from one location, which is useful when you are watching charging voltage, checking bank condition, or sorting out a DC issue at the dock or underway.
With a 5.25 x 3.75 in face and a full-size 2-3/4 in meter, it also works well as an extension to an existing panel or as part of a replacement panel layout.
Key features
- Reads 7 to 60V DC, covering common 12V and 24V marine systems as well as higher-voltage DC banks within that range
- 4-digit display gives a direct voltage reading that is easy to check during charging, troubleshooting, and routine battery checks
- 3-position selector switch allows one panel location to monitor multiple battery banks
- Built around the Blue Sea Systems 8235 DC Digital Voltmeter
- Mounted in a 0.125 in Aluminum 5052 Alloy panel
- Panel face measures 5.25 x 3.75 in with 4-7/16 x 2-15/16 in mounting centers
- Full-size 2-3/4 in meter suits fixed panel installs where voltage needs to be visible at a glance
Installation and setup
Allow space for the 5.25 x 3.75 in panel face and the 4-7/16 x 2-15/16 in mounting centers when laying out the dash or electrical panel. The meter is meant for fixed panel mounting, so it fits best in a spot that stays easy to read during charging checks and day-to-day system monitoring.
On boats with separate start, house, or auxiliary banks, the selector switch keeps those readings in one place without adding multiple individual meters. Positive connections should be fused, and the wiring plan should match the banks you want the panel to monitor.
Compatibility and fit
This voltmeter panel is a practical match for boats that run more than one DC battery bank and need a permanent voltage display rather than a portable meter. It fits common 12V and 24V electrical systems and can read higher-voltage DC installations up to 60V.
