Overview
The Raymarine SeaTalk Extension Cables is a range of plug-to-plug SeaTalk 1 extension cables for extending Raymarine instrument, autopilot, and navigation connections on board. The range covers 400 mm, 1 m, 3 m, 5 m, 9 m, 12 m, and 20 m cable lengths, so it can handle short links behind a helm panel as well as longer runs through a cockpit, cabin, or equipment bay.
SeaTalk 1 is Raymarine's original 3-wire network for compatible marine electronics, carrying bidirectional data and 12V DC power for instruments and sensors over a single cable. These extension cables use flat-style 3-pin molded connectors on each end, which keeps installation straightforward when adding length between existing SeaTalk devices.
Key features
- Extends SeaTalk 1 connections between compatible Raymarine instruments, autopilot controls, sensors, and navigation equipment.
- Available cable lengths from 400 mm to 20 m give flexibility for helm panels, pedestal runs, cabins, and longer routing paths.
- Flat-style 3-pin molded connectors on both ends support direct connection into SeaTalk 1 cabling and accessories.
- SeaTalk 1 wiring carries both network data and 12V DC power for compatible instruments and sensors.
- Useful for replacing a damaged interconnect lead or cleaning up a layout when electronics are moved or added.
Variants
This cable range varies by length only. Available lengths include 400 mm, 1 m, 3 m, 5 m, 9 m, 12 m, and 20 m, letting the installation match the actual route instead of leaving extra cable coiled behind the panel.
The SeaTalk 1 connection format remains the same across the range, with flat-style 3-pin molded connectors on each end. The shorter cables suit tight helm or instrument clusters, while the longer lengths are useful when routing through bulkheads, under side decks, or between separated equipment areas.
Installation and setup
Plan the cable path before connecting the system, especially on sailboats and fishing boats where pedestal guards, cockpit lockers, engine spaces, and service panels can make access tight. Leave enough slack for service loops, but avoid loose cable runs that can rub, catch, or pull on the connectors when the boat is underway.
For best results, support the cable along the route and keep connectors protected from strain. When a run passes near pumps, engines, steering gear, or battery cabling, route it so the cable stays clear of heat, sharp edges, and moving parts.
Compatibility and fit
These cables are for Raymarine SeaTalk 1 systems and accessories. They are not the same as SeaTalk NG spur or backbone cables, so they should be matched to equipment with the older SeaTalk 1 flat 3-pin connection.
This range is a practical match for owners maintaining classic Raymarine instrument networks, extending an existing connection after a helm refit, or replacing a cable during service work without changing the rest of the electronics layout.
