Overview
The Lumishore 010-04522-00 is a THX1604 thru-hull RGBW underwater LED light with an external multi-channel driver for 20-31 V DC (24 V) systems.
It throws a wide 110 degree beam and puts out 17,500 fixture lumens in white, which helps light the waterline and wake without needing a tight aiming angle. The light face is 130 mm in diameter with an 18 mm housing profile, and the shaft uses a 27 mm (1-1/16 in) cut-out.
Control runs over Lumi-DMX (DMX512 and RDMX compatible), so it fits boats that already have a DMX lighting controller or an MFD-based lighting interface handling color and effects.
Key features
- Full-color RGBW output with 17,500 fixture lumens (white) and a 110 degree beam.
- Supply voltage range 20-31 V DC; max current draw 6.5 A at 24 V.
- IP68 water-ingress rating for the light body.
- Marine bronze housing with a borosilicate glass lens.
- 130 mm face diameter with an 18 mm housing profile to keep the exterior footprint low.
- 140 mm shaft length; 27 mm (1-1/16 in) shaft hole cut-out.
- 3 m light cable (do not cut) plus plug-and-play connections to the external driver.
- Lumi-DMX communications (DMX512 and RDMX compatible) with built-in protections including 3,000 V surge protection, reverse polarity protection, soft start, and automatic thermal roll-back.
What's included
- (1) THX1604 thru-hull underwater LED light
- (1) External driver
- (1) 1 m DMX cable
Installation and setup
Plan the location on a flat section of transom or side hull where the back side can be reached for the retaining hardware and where wiring can be routed to an accessible space for the driver. Typical placement is 150-250 mm (6-10 in) below the minimum loaded waterline, and multiple lights are commonly spaced 0.8-2 m (2.5-6.5 ft) apart for an even wash.
The shaft uses a 27 mm (1-1/16 in) cut-out. Use proper bedding and sealant for a below-waterline penetration, and avoid over-tightening; the retaining bolts should not exceed 3 Nm (26 in-lb) each.
Do not attempt installation or removal with the boat in the water.
Electrical and control integration
This light is for 24 V DC systems only. Feed the driver from a protected DC circuit using a suitable fuse or breaker, and keep the power run as short as practical.
The external driver connects to the light via the 3 m cable, which should not be cut. Make all splices and terminations waterproof with a junction box or sealed connectors, and confirm polarity before energizing.
Control is through Lumi-DMX, which is compatible with DMX512 and RDMX. Use a DMX terminator at the end of the run, and extend the network only with the correct DMX cabling and connectors for the environment.
Compatibility and fit
For GRP or fiberglass hulls, it installs directly. For wood, metal, or carbon fiber hulls, an isolation kit is required to separate the thru-hull hardware from the hull material.
The control system is specified for vessels up to 100 m (330 ft), which makes it a good match for larger cruisers and sportfishing boats running a DMX-capable lighting controller or an MFD lighting interface.
Materials and corrosion management
The housing uses marine bronze with a borosilicate glass lens and carries an IP68 water-ingress rating. A bonding point is provided on the light; tie it into the vessel bonding system as appropriate for galvanic protection.
Keep the light away from hot engine components and exhaust outlets, and avoid locations where surrounding structure can exceed 65 C (150 F).
Maintenance and care
Like any underwater hardware, the lens benefits from periodic cleaning to remove growth and restore light output. Use non-abrasive cleaners and avoid scraping tools that can scratch the glass.
During haul-outs, inspect bedding and cable routing, and re-check fasteners for proper tension before the boat goes back in the water.
