Overview
The Victron Energy VE.Direct Cable is a communication cable for linking VE.Direct-equipped Victron devices in a boat’s electrical and monitoring system. This version uses a right-angle connector on one side, which helps when the cable needs to leave a battery monitor, solar charge controller, shunt, or GX device in a tight panel space.
It is used for VE.Direct communication between compatible Victron products such as BMV battery monitors, MPPT solar chargers, Orion XS, Smart IP43 Chargers, and GX monitoring devices. On board, that makes it useful for clean runs inside helm consoles, electrical cabinets, battery compartments, and other areas where power-system data needs to reach a Victron display or monitoring hub.
Key features
- VE.Direct communication cable for compatible Victron Energy equipment with VE.Direct ports.
- One-side right-angle connector helps the cable sit closer to the device when space behind a panel or enclosure is limited.
- Available in lengths from 0.3 m to 10 m, covering short cabinet connections and longer routing between battery, charging, and monitoring equipment.
- Suitable for common Victron installations using BMV battery monitors, MPPT solar chargers, Orion XS, Smart IP43 Chargers, and GX devices with VE.Direct connections.
- Helps keep monitoring and charging components connected without using NMEA 2000, VE.Bus, or Ethernet cabling for the VE.Direct link.
Variants
This product range varies by cable length: 0.3 m, 0.9 m, 1.8 m, 3 m, 5 m, and 10 m. The length changes how much routing distance is available between connected Victron components, while the one-side right-angle VE.Direct connector format remains the same across the range.
Shorter lengths work well when devices sit in the same panel or cabinet. Longer lengths are better suited to runs between a battery area, charge controller location, and a remote monitoring point, provided the route is kept protected from chafe, heat, and standing water.
Installation and setup
Before installation, confirm that both devices have VE.Direct ports and that the selected length can follow a protected cable path without sharp bends or tension at the connector. The right-angle side is especially helpful where a straight plug would press against the back of a bulkhead, enclosure, or display panel.
In marine electrical spaces, route the cable with the same care as other low-voltage communication wiring. Keep it supported, away from moving gear, and separated from hot engine components or high-current DC wiring where practical. Leave enough service loop to remove a panel or device later without pulling on the connector.
Compatibility and fit
This cable is for VE.Direct connections only. It should be matched to Victron devices that specifically provide a VE.Direct port, such as many battery monitors, solar charge controllers, and GX monitoring products. It is not a substitute for VE.Bus, VE.Can, NMEA 2000, USB, or standard network cables.
It is a good match for boat owners and installers adding Victron monitoring to a house battery bank, solar charging setup, or compact DC power system where cable exit direction and clean routing matter as much as the connection itself.
