Overview
The Victron Energy ASS030550220 is a non-inverting remote on-off cable for connecting a VE.Bus BMS to compatible Victron equipment that needs an active pull-down signal to switch off. It is used with Skylla-TG chargers across all models and with the discontinued Battery Protect BP40i, BP60i, and BP200i models.
In a Victron battery system, the VE.Bus BMS remote on/off output is normally high and becomes open circuit during an alarm condition. This cable translates that behavior into the logic required by the connected device, pulling the signal low when shutoff is needed. It supports up to 70V on both input and output, with pull-down operation when the input is left floating or falls below approximately 2V.
For boats running Victron lithium battery protection and charging equipment, this is a small but important interface cable. It helps the BMS communicate shutdown commands correctly to supported equipment, which is especially useful in electrical lockers, battery compartments, and charger installations where clean control wiring matters.
Key features
- Connects a VE.Bus BMS to Skylla-TG chargers across all models.
- Supports discontinued Victron Battery Protect BP40i, BP60i, and BP200i units.
- Translates the VE.Bus BMS remote on/off signal to the active pull-down logic required by the connected device.
- Pulls down when the input is left floating or when input voltage is below approximately 2V.
- Rated for a maximum input voltage of 70V and a maximum output voltage of 70V.
- Approximate 30mA pull-down current with short-circuit-proof behavior.
Compatibility and fit
This cable is for specific Victron system combinations, not for general NMEA, radar, GPS, or display extension use. The confirmed applications are VE.Bus BMS control of Skylla-TG battery chargers and VE.Bus BMS control of Battery Protect BP40i, BP60i, and BP200i units.
It is a good match for onboard DC systems where a VE.Bus BMS must shut down supported charging or load equipment during a battery protection event. Before ordering, check the model name of the charger or Battery Protect unit in the installation and confirm that the system uses the VE.Bus BMS control outputs.
Installation and setup
For Battery Protect applications, the cable is wired between the Load-disconnect output of the VE.Bus BMS and the Battery Protect input. For Skylla-TG battery charger applications, it is wired between the Charge-disconnect output of the VE.Bus BMS and the Skylla-TG charger input.
Route the cable with the rest of the low-current control wiring, away from sharp edges, hot engine-room surfaces, and high-current battery cables where possible. On a boat, neat strain relief and protected cable runs help prevent nuisance faults from vibration, service work, or movement behind panels.
Use cases on board
This cable belongs in Victron-based battery installations where lithium battery protection needs to control compatible legacy equipment. It is most relevant for cruisers, workboats, and refit projects that combine a VE.Bus BMS with Skylla-TG charging equipment or older Battery Protect units.
Because its role is signal logic conversion rather than power delivery, the buying decision mainly comes down to system compatibility. When the connected equipment matches the supported Victron models, this cable gives the BMS the control behavior those devices expect.
