Overview
The TACO Marine GS-300 is a Grand Slam 300 outrigger mount pair for 1-1/2 inch outriggers on sport-fishing boats where the crew needs lift and rotation from the deck. It works with TACO Open Water internal and collapsible carbon fiber outrigger poles, as well as aluminum or carbon fiber Tele-Outrigger poles up to 22 ft with an underside pin-locking connection. The arm lifts up to 46.5 degrees from horizontal for kite fishing and dock clearance, and the mount allows controlled 180 degree rotation when needed.
This mount is built for boats from 25 ft to 40 ft and uses cast stainless steel with machined aluminum in the base. It is sold as a pair with a total listed weight of 30 lb, with each mount weighing 15 lb, so the hardtop, arch, or T-top needs a strong mounting area before installation.
Key features
- Single-hand crank handle controls both lift and rotation from the safety of the deck.
- Underside locking pin connection removes the need for separate port and starboard versions.
- Arm lift reaches up to 46.5 degrees from horizontal, useful for kite fishing clearance and dockside clearance.
- Pairs with 1-1/2 inch diameter outrigger poles up to 22 ft; compatible with a base reducer for 1-1/8 inch diameter poles.
- Controlled 180 degree rotation helps manage outrigger position during deployment and when working around top-mounted gear.
- Safety detents help prevent uncontrolled rotation, and the locking head helps stop downward pole creep.
- All-metal construction uses no plastic components in the mount, which supports better sealing and exposure resistance on a boat top.
- Base hole pattern matches TACO Marine Grand Slam models and common top-mount outrigger system patterns.
- Backing plates are sold separately for installations that need added support.
- Covered by a 3-year limited warranty.
Installation and fit
Plan the mount around the top structure before drilling. The center hole is 3-1/8 inch, and the center of that hole should sit at least 9-1/2 inch from hardtop framing, vertical posts, or other hardware that could interfere with handle movement. The maximum mounting thickness for this model is 2 inch.
For a canvas top, arch, or hardtop, the mounting surface should be strong enough to carry the outrigger load and the whip generated by poles up to 22 ft. When mounted through a hardtop, spacers through the bolt path help keep the core from being compressed as the hardware is tightened.
Use on board
The single-handle layout suits center consoles and sport-fishing boats where the crew may need to raise or rotate outriggers without climbing onto the gunwale or hardtop. It fits the needs of crews running offshore spreads, kite fishing, or moving in and out of tight dock areas where outrigger position needs to be controlled from below.
Maintenance and care
After fishing or running in saltwater, rinse the mount with fresh water and wipe it down with a clean microfiber towel. Use mild boat wash or a cleaner made for marine hardware, and avoid bleach, acids, engine degreasers, and abrasive compounds that can damage the finish.
