Installation and fit

Match this basket to the existing strainer size before replacement. It is for the Size 7 Perko 0493 Series body used on 1-1/4" NPT plumbing, not simply any strainer with a similar outside diameter. The correct basket height and diameter matter because the basket needs to seat inside the housing while leaving the cover and gasket area free to seal properly.

During service, shut the seacock, open the strainer, remove the old basket, and clean out the inside of the body before fitting the replacement. The strainer should remain mounted vertically with enough clearance above it for the basket to lift out during regular checks.
