Overview
The Simrad 24005902 is a 2 m (6.6 ft) SimNet power cable that feeds your SimNet backbone and includes a terminator. One end has a 5-pin, red-tipped SimNet female connector and the other end is bare red/black power leads for tying into your boat’s DC distribution.
It’s a practical choice when you need to add network power close to the end of a SimNet run, or when you want the backbone end to be cleaner with fewer separate pieces tucked behind the helm.
Key features
- 2 m (6.6 ft) length for reaching a nearby breaker panel or bus bar
- 5-pin, red-tipped SimNet female connector on the network side
- Bare red/black conductors on the power side for a direct connection
- Includes a SimNet terminator to finish one end of the backbone
- Helpful when space is tight and you want power entry and termination handled in one run
Installation and setup
Connect the SimNet plug into the backbone where you want to inject power, then route the cable so it’s supported and kept away from sharp edges, heat sources, and places that see constant movement.
Terminate the red/black leads at a DC feed that is properly fused for the network and switched with your electronics. A SimNet backbone is terminated at both ends, so when this cable is used as one end terminator, the opposite end still needs a terminator and you should avoid adding an extra one.
Compatibility and fit
This cable is for networks wired with SimNet connectors. If your boat is built around NMEA 2000 Micro-C cabling, plan on using SimNet-to-NMEA 2000 adapter cables or an adapter kit so the physical connectors match.
Use cases on board
Common installs are behind the helm where the backbone starts or ends, near an autopilot computer, or in an instrument pod where you want the network power feed and termination handled together. It’s a good match for refits and expansions on boats that already have SimNet cabling in place.
