Overview
The Jabsco 58500-Series Lite Flush is an electrically operated marine toilet for powerboats and sailing craft, available in 12V and 24V versions with either a foot switch or a control panel. It uses raw-water flushing and a compact ceramic bowl with a rotatable seat, making it a practical refit option where space and existing toilet plumbing matter.
A full flush cycle adds about 0.6 litres of rinse water before use, then adds about 0.6 litres while the macerating waste pump discharges the bowl, so the flush uses less than 1.2 litres of water. The toilet measures about 342 mm wide, 402 mm front to back, and 373 mm high, with a 19 mm raw-water inlet and a 38 mm discharge connection.
The range is built around the same footprint and similar hose layout as a Jabsco manual toilet, which helps when replacing an older manual head without reworking the whole compartment.
Key features
- Available in 12V and 24V configurations, with 25A protection for 12V models and 15A protection for 24V models.
- Foot-switch versions use a two-press sequence that fills the bowl, then flushes and leaves it dry; another fill press can leave the bowl wet.
- Control-panel versions use separate Fill and Flush buttons, giving the user direct control of water entry and discharge.
- Uses the same mounting footprint as the Jabsco manual toilet and a similar hose arrangement for easier replacement work.
- 19 mm raw-water rinse inlet and 38 mm discharge hose connection match common marine toilet plumbing sizes.
- Internally mounted self-priming diaphragm rinse pump and centrifugal macerating waste pump keep the main working parts inside the toilet base.
- Waste pump can discharge up to 1.5 m above the base of the toilet, while the rinse pump can self-prime up to 3 m.
- Raw-water flushing only; not for connection to a pressurized fresh-water system.
- Slow-close seat and lid help reduce noise in tight heads during regular onboard use.
Variants
This product family is offered in four configurations within the 58500-Series Lite Flush range. The differences are the control type and the operating voltage.
The toilet body, raw-water flushing layout, hose connection sizes, and installation dimensions are consistent across the listed configurations.
- 58500-0012: foot switch control, 12V. This version uses the foot-operated two-stage flush sequence and matches a 12V DC onboard electrical system.
- 58500-0024: foot switch control, 24V. This version keeps the foot-operated layout for boats running a 24V DC toilet circuit.
- 58500-1012: control panel, 12V. This version uses the wall-mounted Fill and Flush panel, which gives the user separate control of water entry and discharge on a 12V DC system.
- 58500-1024: control panel, 24V. This version pairs the wall-mounted panel with a 24V DC toilet circuit for boats wired around 24V house systems.
Installation and fit
The 58500-Series Lite Flush is a good match for refits where an older Jabsco manual toilet is being replaced. The base uses the same fixing positions, and the hose routing is similar, which can reduce the amount of drilling and plumbing adjustment needed in the head compartment.
On foot-switch versions, the switch can be fitted for left-hand or right-hand use by moving the switch and adjusting the hose. The toilet should be mounted on a flat, rigid surface with enough clearance around and above the bowl for service access.
Electrical and plumbing integration
Match the voltage version to the boat's DC system before installation. The 12V models draw 20A and use a 25A fuse or breaker, while the 24V models draw 10A and use a 15A fuse or breaker. Wire size depends on the total cable run from the battery to the toilet and back.
The toilet is intended for raw-water rinse systems. It may discharge overboard where regulations allow, into a treatment system, or into an onboard holding tank, provided the seacocks, venting, hose runs, and discharge layout are set up correctly for the vessel.
Use and care
This toilet suits owners who want electric flushing in a compact marine head without moving far away from a familiar manual-toilet layout. It is a practical fit for cruisers, fishing boats, and sailing craft where controlled water use, compact dimensions, and straightforward operation matter.
Use standard toilet tissue and waste only. Do not flush wipes, sanitary products, kitchen towels, rags, or other items that can jam the macerating mechanism.
Clean the ceramic bowl with a liquid or cream ceramic cleaner, and clean the seat, lid, and plastic parts with a non-abrasive liquid cleaner. Avoid bleach, acetone, abrasive pads, and thick toilet cleaners because they can damage plastic parts, valves, gaskets, and seals.
