Overview
The Garmin 010-12718-00 is a 4-pin transducer to 12-pin sounder adapter cable that lets you connect a Garmin transducer with a 4-pin plug to a compatible chartplotter or fishfinder with a 12-pin sonar port.
It is commonly used when you are upgrading a display but want to keep an existing transducer, or when you need to move a known-good transducer between Garmin units without cutting or re-terminating wiring.
Before ordering, confirm the connector style on your transducer lead (4-pin) and the sonar port on the display (12-pin). This adapter is specific to those connector types and does not fit other Garmin sonar connectors.
Key features
- Adapts a 4-pin transducer connection to a 12-pin sonar port for compatible Garmin marine displays
- Keeps the transducer cable intact so you avoid splicing and redoing terminations
- Common fit for Garmin echoMAP and GPSMAP units that use a 12-pin sonar connector
- Handy for troubleshooting and equipment swaps when you need to separate a transducer issue from a display issue
Compatibility and fit
This cable is for Garmin transducers that terminate in a 4-pin connector and Garmin marine displays with a 12-pin sonar port. If your display uses an 8-pin sonar connector, or your transducer lead is not 4-pin, this is not the correct adapter.
The adapter changes the physical connection only. Sonar features and performance depend on the transducer and the head unit you are pairing together.
Installation and setup
Plan to keep the connection in a dry location such as behind the helm or inside the console. Route the cable so it cannot chafe on fiberglass edges, and secure it so the connectors are not carrying the weight of the transducer lead in rough water.
Power the electronics off, connect the 12-pin end to the unit, then connect the transducer lead to the 4-pin end. Seat both connectors fully and secure any locking rings, then leave a small service loop so vibration does not work the plugs loose over time.
Use cases on board
This is a good match for anglers and cruisers who already have a transducer installed and wired with a 4-pin plug, and are moving to a Garmin display that expects a 12-pin sonar connection.
