Overview

The Raymarine E70329 is a p70Rs autopilot control head for Raymarine Evolution autopilot systems, using push buttons and a rotary control dial that suits powerboat helm installations. It gives the skipper a dedicated place to engage standby, hold a course, make course changes, and use steering modes without relying only on a multifunction display.

The unit uses a 3.45 inch TFT LCD with 320 x 240 pixel resolution, 16-bit color, and 1,200 cd/m2 brightness, so pilot data remains easy to read at an exposed helm. The optically bonded screen helps reduce fogging and improves contrast, which matters on center consoles, flybridges, pilothouses, and other locations where glare, spray, and changing light are part of normal operation.

Power is supplied from a 12 V DC system, with a 9 V DC to 16 V DC operating range and protection up to 32 V DC. It connects through SeaTalkng and supports integration with Raymarine and NMEA 2000 marine networks, making it a practical control point for boats already built around Raymarine pilot electronics.

Installation and setup

The p70Rs is made for a fixed helm installation where the control head can be reached quickly while steering, docking, or monitoring the pilot on passage. Its front panel measures 110 mm wide by 115 mm high, with a depth of 151.65 mm including cable bend radius, so the mounting location should allow room behind the panel for the SeaTalkng connection and proper cable routing.

Setup is handled through the LightHouse user interface, with pilot views and settings available from the controller. Group dimming can be used across compatible Raymarine displays, which helps keep helm brightness consistent during night runs or low-light operation.

Compatibility and system integration

This controller is intended for Raymarine Evolution autopilot systems and is also used with compatible Raymarine pilot networks where SeaTalkng is present. The single SeaTalkng connector carries network communication, and the controller can sit alongside Raymarine multifunction displays and other compatible network devices.

For boats using NMEA 2000 equipment, the SeaTalkng network support makes the control head easier to place into a mixed marine electronics layout when the correct backbone, spur cable, and network planning are in place.
