Overview
The Jabsco 18653-0001-P is a neoprene flexible impeller kit for marine water pumps that use a slotted shaft pin drive. It has 10 flexible blades, a brass insert, a 2 inch diameter, a 7/8 inch width, and a 15/32 inch shaft diameter, so it is important to match these measurements and drive style against the impeller being replaced.
This kit is used for routine pump service in raw-water and general water pumping systems on boats. A worn impeller can reduce cooling water flow, raise engine temperature, or leave loose blade pieces inside the pump, so carrying a correct spare is a practical habit for cruising, fishing, and seasonal maintenance.
Key features
- Neoprene impeller material for fresh and salt water pumping applications.
- 10-blade flexible impeller helps restore water flow in the correct matching pump.
- 2 inch diameter x 7/8 inch width with a 15/32 inch shaft diameter for fit verification before installation.
- Slotted shaft pin drive with a brass insert to match compatible pump shafts.
- Useful as an onboard spare for engine cooling pump service during cruising, fishing trips, and annual maintenance.
Compatibility and fit
This impeller is a fit-sensitive service part. Before ordering or installing it, compare the old impeller’s outside diameter, width, shaft diameter, blade count, insert style, and drive type. The slotted shaft pin drive and brass insert must match the pump shaft for the impeller to seat and turn correctly.
It is commonly used as a replacement kit for Jabsco marine water pump applications that require this impeller profile and size. When servicing an engine cooling pump, inspect the pump cover, cam, gasket surface, and hose connections at the same time, since air leaks or rough internal surfaces can shorten impeller life.
Installation and care
Use the included lubricant during installation so the blades can slide into the pump body without tearing or taking an uneven set. Rotate the impeller in the pump’s normal direction as it goes in, then replace the cover gasket or O-ring as applicable before tightening the cover evenly.
After startup, check that water is moving through the system and look for leaks at the pump cover. Impellers should not be run dry, and they should be replaced during scheduled service or whenever blades show cracking, stiffness, missing tips, or damage from overheating.
What’s included
