Overview
The Blue Sea Systems Remote Control Contura Switch is an SPDT rocker switch for remote control of Blue Sea Systems ML-Series battery switches, solenoids, and automatic charging relays on marine DC systems. It gives the helm, panel, or equipment bay a labeled control point for switching high-current battery management equipment without mounting the main device in reach.
The switch is rated for 20A at 12V DC and 15A at 24V DC, with an 18mA operating current. It uses LED lighting rated to a 100,000-hour half-life, fits a 1.45 in x 0.83 in mounting cutout, and carries an IP67 rating for temporary immersion, which matters on exposed panels and damp boat interiors.
Each variant uses a red actuator and an SPDT pole and throw layout, with the switch action changing by part number. The range is built for the vibration, shock, thermoshock, moisture, and salt spray that come with service on cruising boats, fishing boats, and workboat electrical panels.
Key features
- SPDT remote-control Contura rocker switch for Blue Sea Systems ML-Series remote battery switches, ML solenoids, and ML automatic charging relays.
- 20A maximum operating rating at 12V DC and 15A maximum operating rating at 24V DC.
- IP67-rated construction for temporary immersion and better protection on wet or exposed switch panels.
- CE marked and meets ISO 8846 and UL 1500 ignition protection requirements for marine electrical installations.
- Red actuator with LED lighting rated to a 100,000-hour half-life for panel visibility in low light.
- 1.45 in x 0.83 in mounting cutout supports clean installation in compatible Contura switch panels.
- Resistance to vibration, shock, thermoshock, moisture, and salt spray helps the switch hold up in real boat environments.
Variants
This Remote Control Contura Switch is offered in three switch-action configurations so the control behavior can match the ML-Series device and panel layout.
The shared format across the range is SPDT with a red actuator. The part number determines whether the switch returns to center after use, holds a selected position, or works as a two-position ON-ON control.
- 2145: Action (ON) OFF (ON). The parentheses indicate momentary ON positions, so the rocker returns to the center OFF position after being pressed.
- 2146: Action ON-OFF-ON. This version has maintained ON positions on both sides with a center OFF position for circuits that need a held selection.
- 2155: Action ON-ON. This version has two maintained ON positions and includes a lockout slide to reduce the chance of accidental switching.
Installation and setup
Use this switch where a remote control point is needed for Blue Sea Systems ML-Series battery management hardware. Common mounting locations include a DC distribution panel, helm switch bank, battery control panel, or machinery-space control panel where the switch can be reached and clearly identified.
Match the selected variant to the control logic required by the device being operated. The cutout size is 1.45 in high by 0.83 in wide, so the panel opening should be checked before ordering or replacing an existing rocker.
Compatibility and fit
The range is made for use with Blue Sea Systems Contura water-resistant panels and ML-Series remote switching equipment. The 12V and 24V current ratings make it suitable for common marine DC systems, but the final installation should still follow the wiring diagram for the specific ML-Series device being controlled.
This is a good fit for boat owners and installers adding remote battery switching, ACR control, or solenoid control where a compact rocker is preferred over a larger control module. It is especially useful when the main battery switch or relay is mounted near the batteries, while the operator needs control from the helm or electrical panel.
