Overview
The Blue Sea Systems 1010 is a 12V cigarette lighter plug for boats and other 12V DC accessory circuits. It is rated for 12V DC nominal service with 10A maximum operating current, and it carries a built-in 10A fuse at the plug.
This plug is a practical replacement or new termination for portable equipment that needs a steadier connection in places where spray and vibration are part of normal use. A sealing ring helps the plug seat firmly in the outlet, and the twist-lock body helps keep it from backing out when the boat is running or working through chop.
Key features
- 12V DC nominal plug with 10A maximum operating current
- Built-in 10A fuse at the plug for overcurrent protection
- Twist-lock connection helps prevent the plug from working loose in vibration
- Sealing ring around the shaft helps keep spray out and improves the fit in the socket
- ON indicator LED gives a clear visual check that power is present
- Nickel-plated copper alloy current-carrying parts support solid contact and low voltage drop
- Large contact surfaces help maintain a stable electrical connection
- Internal strain relief and cord seal help protect the cable entry point
Compatibility and fit
This is a plug, not a panel outlet, so it suits installations where the socket is already in place and the cable side still needs termination. It is meant for 12V DC accessory sockets, including Blue Sea Systems 12V socket setups, and it fits loads that stay within the 10A operating limit.
It is a good match for portable lights, inflators, handheld electronics chargers, and other 12V accessories that move between the cockpit, cabin, or helm and need a connection that stays put better than a loose automotive-style plug.
Installation and setup
The housing opens for wiring at the positive and negative clamps, then reassembles around the cable with the strain relief in place. The fuse holder is built into the plug body, so the fuse can be serviced without replacing the whole lead.
On board, this makes the 1010 useful as a replacement plug when an older connector has become intermittent from corrosion, heat, or repeated movement at the cable entry point.
