Overview
The Perko 0120 Strap Hinge is a chrome-plated bronze hinge range for boat cabinets, doors, hatches, lockers, and other onboard hardware locations where a traditional strap-style hinge is the right fit.
This series is offered in 4 inch, 6 inch, and 8 inch open widths, with matching screw sizes and hole counts by configuration. The chrome-plated bronze construction gives the hinge a polished look while keeping the base metal appropriate for marine cabin and deck hardware use.
Use it when replacing worn hinges or matching existing Perko hardware on a vessel. Before ordering, compare the open width, pin height, screw size, and number of mounting holes against the hinge being replaced so the new hardware lines up cleanly with the mounting surface.
Key features
- Chrome-plated bronze construction for marine cabinet, door, locker, and hatch hardware applications.
- Strap hinge layout gives broad mounting support across the leaf, useful where the hinge is visible and part of the finished hardware.
- Available in 4 inch, 6 inch, and 8 inch open widths to match different door, lid, and panel sizes.
- Configurations use either #10 or #12 screws, so existing hole size and fastener choice should be checked before installation.
- Mounting patterns include 4-hole and 6-hole versions depending on size.
- Sold as a pair, allowing one matching set for a small door, cabinet face, or locker lid installation.
Variants
This strap hinge range is offered in three configurations. The main differences are open width, screw size, number of mounting holes, and pin height.
The 4 inch and 6 inch versions use a 1-1/8 inch pin height, while the 8 inch version uses a 1-3/8 inch pin height. All three configurations share the same chrome-plated bronze construction and strap hinge format.
- 0120DP1CHR: 4 inch open width, #10 screw size, 4 holes. This size suits smaller cabinet doors, access panels, or light locker lids where a shorter hinge footprint is needed.
- 0120DP2CHR: 6 inch open width, #10 screw size, 6 holes. The longer leaf and added mounting holes give more bearing area for medium-size doors, lids, or panels.
- 0120DP3CHR: 8 inch open width, #12 screw size, 6 holes. This is the largest option in the range and uses a larger screw size for installations that call for a broader hinge footprint.
Installation and fit
Check the hinge with the leaves fully open and measure the total open width across the hinge before drilling or reusing existing holes. The screw size and hole count should match the mounting surface, especially on finished teak, fiberglass, or painted panels where redrilling may leave visible marks.
For exterior or damp locations, fasteners should be selected for the boat environment and the mounting material. Bedding or sealing the fastener holes may be appropriate when the hinge is mounted where spray, washdowns, or standing moisture can reach the hardware.
Use cases on board
This hinge is a good match for owners, yards, and refit crews replacing visible hardware on cabins, lockers, companionway areas, and small hinged panels. The chrome finish works well where the hinge remains exposed and needs to coordinate with other polished deck or cabin hardware.
