Overview
The Raymarine i50 Speed is a dedicated marine speed instrument display for boats that need clear speed, log, trip, and water temperature data at the helm. It shows speed through the water from a compatible speed transducer, and it can also show speed over ground when GPS data is available on the SeaTalkng network.
The display runs on a 12 V dc system with a 10 V dc to 16 V dc operating range. Its compact 110 mm x 115 mm x 44 mm footprint works well on crowded helm panels, while the IPX6 water protection rating supports installation in exposed cockpit and console locations where spray and washdowns are part of normal use.
With SeaTalkng, SeaTalk, and NMEA 2000 network compatibility, the i50 Speed can work as a master display with its own speed and temperature transducer or as a repeater showing data from another source on the boat network.
Key features
- Displays speed through the water, speed over ground with GPS data, sea surface temperature, trip, and log information.
- Large digits, a high-contrast monochrome LCD, and red backlighting help keep readings easy to see in daylight and at night.
- SeaTalkng, SeaTalk, and NMEA 2000 compatibility supports upgrades from older Raymarine instruments and integration with current marine electronics networks.
- Built-in speed and temperature transducer interface allows the display to host a compatible transducer when used as the primary speed instrument.
- 12 V dc operation with a 10 V dc to 16 V dc range matches common small craft electrical systems.
- Low power draw, with less than 1 W typical use as a display only and up to 2.4 W with a transducer connected.
- IPX6 water protection rating supports helm, cockpit, and console installations exposed to spray.
- Front-mounted installation and a compact 110 mm x 115 mm x 44 mm body help simplify panel replacement and refit work.
Variants
This product is offered in two configurations, both based on the Raymarine i50 Speed display platform.
The main difference is whether the display is supplied on its own or as a pack with a through hull speed and temperature transducer. Core display functions, network compatibility, power requirements, and display dimensions remain consistent across the range.
- E70058: Display only configuration. This option is for installations where a compatible speed or temperature transducer is already on board, or where the display will be used mainly as a network repeater.
- E70147: Pack with through hull transducer configuration. This option includes the i50 Speed display with a P120 retractable speed/temp through hull transducer for installations that need the display and hull sensor together.
Installation and setup
The i50 Speed is a good fit for sailboats, RIBs, and small to mid-size powerboats that need a dedicated speed readout separate from the chartplotter. Its front-mount layout helps when working with an existing helm panel, and the compact case leaves room for nearby depth, wind, autopilot, or multifunction displays.
For a standalone speed system, connect a compatible speed and temperature transducer to the display and complete calibration during setup. For a networked installation, connect the display to SeaTalkng or an adapted SeaTalk or NMEA 2000 backbone so it can share available speed, temperature, and GPS-based data with the rest of the electronics system.
Compatibility and fit
This instrument is most useful where the skipper wants speed and trip data visible at a glance while steering, trimming sails, running inshore, or monitoring speed limits in harbors and channels. Speed over ground depends on GPS data being available on the network, while through-water speed depends on a compatible speed transducer in the system.
Before ordering, match the configuration to the boat. The display only version suits refits that already have the right transducer or network data source. The pack version suits new installations or replacements where a through hull speed and temperature transducer is part of the job.
