Overview
The Blue Sea Systems 8384 is a 4-position label backlight kit for Blue Sea Systems circuit breaker panels. It lights the panel labels so they stay readable in low light, and it connects to either 12V or 24V DC systems through two 6 inch 18 AWG wire leads.
This is a small but useful panel upgrade when the rest of the electrical system is already sorted and you want the breaker labels to stay visible at the helm, inside the cabin, or at a secondary switch location after dark. Reverse polarity protection is built in, which adds some protection during wiring.
Key features
- 4-position backlight kit for Blue Sea Systems circuit breaker panel labels
- Works with 12V and 24V DC electrical systems
- Includes two 6 inch 18 AWG wire leads for connection
- Reverse polarity protection is built into the circuit
- Helps keep breaker labels readable in low-light conditions without adding a separate light at the panel
Compatibility and fit
This kit is intended for Blue Sea Systems circuit breaker panels that use a 4-position label backlight. Before ordering, confirm that your panel needs a four-position backlight rather than another layout, and make sure there is enough access behind the panel for the two short leads.
It suits boats where the distribution panel sits in a helm console, cabin bulkhead, or other control area that is used at night or in poor light. For a small boat, cruising boat, or fishing setup where quick circuit identification matters, label lighting can make panel checks easier without turning on a broader cabin light.
Installation and setup
Installation is straightforward when you already have access to the rear of the panel. The kit ties into a 12V or 24V DC source through the attached leads, so it is best handled during panel service, refit work, or when replacing worn panel components. As with any panel wiring job on board, isolate power first and confirm system voltage and polarity before energizing the circuit.
