Overview
The Vimar VM02187 is an E40 Edison lampholder made from white porcelain with a straight fixing bracket for screw mounting. It is built for E40-base lamps where the holder needs to stay stable around heat, vibration, and frequent on-off cycles.
The bracket uses elongated fixing slots sized 5.2 x 7.5 mm with 52 mm fixing centres, which helps when you are matching an existing hole pattern on a light body, bulkhead plate, or a retrofit bracket. This is a common spare part for servicing older E40 fixtures on board, where replacing only the lampholder is faster than changing the whole light.
Key features
- E40 Edison lampholder for large screw-base lamps
- Porcelain body in white
- Straight fixing bracket with screw mounting
- Fixing slots: 5.2 x 7.5 mm
- Fixing centres: 52 mm
- No starter insertion
Installation and fit
Before ordering, confirm the lamp base is E40 and compare the mounting pattern on your fixture to the 52 mm centres and the slot size. On refits, the elongated slots can help line up slightly imperfect hole spacing, but the bracket still needs a flat surface so the holder does not twist when you install or remove the lamp.
Because E40 lamps are physically large, check clearance around the holder for the lamp envelope, wiring bend radius, and any shade or lens hardware.
Electrical and system integration
This is the lampholder only, not a complete light. It belongs in a properly protected lighting circuit with components that match the lamp type used in your fixture. If the lamp is part of a ballast-based setup, verify the wiring layout inside the fitting before swapping parts and keep terminations tight so they stay put under vibration.
Use cases on board
A good match when you already have an E40 fixture and need a like-for-like replacement that handles high lamp temperatures without relying on plastic around the base. Typical installs are utility lighting, service-area fittings, and refits where the original holder has heat damage or cracked insulation.
Maintenance and care
During routine checks, look for hairline cracks in the porcelain and signs of overheating at the terminals. If the fixture is in a damp location, keep the interior dry and re-seal the light body as needed so salt and moisture do not track along the wiring.
