Overview
The Vimar VM02405 is a snap-in lampholder for G5 fluorescent tubular lamps. It is rated 2 A and is suitable for continuous operating temperatures up to 110°C, which matters when the fixture sits in a warm headliner void or near other heat sources on board.
This is a service part used inside a light fitting, where it grips the two G5 pins and keeps the lamp seated even with vibration underway. Screwless terminals make it quick to re-terminate wiring without fighting tiny terminal screws.
Key features
- For G5 fluorescent tubular lamps
- Snap-fixing body for quick mounting in compatible fixtures
- Screwless terminals for rigid and flexible conductors from 0.5 mm² to 1 mm²
- Rated current: 2 A
- Rated operating temperature: up to 110°C (continuous)
- Brass contacts for stable electrical contact at the lamp pins
- White finish that blends into most interior light housings
Compatibility and fit
Fit is mainly about two things: the lamp base and the way the holder mounts into the fixture. This lampholder is for G5 tube pins and uses a snap-fixing style, so it needs a fixture designed for that mounting method.
Many fluorescent fixtures use a lampholder at each end of the tube. If you are replacing a worn or heat-affected holder, it is worth checking the one on the opposite end for looseness or discoloration as well so the tube stays aligned.
Installation and wiring
Isolate power to the light circuit and confirm it is dead before working in the fixture. Strip the conductor to a clean length and insert it fully into the screwless terminal, then do a gentle pull check to confirm it is locked.
Route wiring so it is supported and not tugging on the terminals when the boat pounds. Keep the lampholder inside the fixture where it is protected from direct spray and washdowns, and make sure the tube pins seat squarely into the contacts before closing the housing.
Use on board
This lampholder is a practical fix when an older fluorescent strip light in the cabin, galley, nav station, or a locker starts flickering due to a loose lamp connection. It is also useful during refits where you are keeping an existing fluorescent fixture body but renewing the internal wear parts.
Maintenance and care
During routine checks, look for signs of heat stress such as browning, brittleness, or a lamp that no longer fits snugly. If the tube feels loose in the ends or you see intermittent lighting when the boat vibrates, replacing the holder is often a straightforward way to restore a solid connection.
