Overview
The Vimar VM02370 is a 24 V halogen lampholder with flying leads for capsule lamps with G4, G5.3, GX5.3, G6.35, and GY6.35 bases. It is rated up to 4.5 A and comes with a 140 mm PTFE (Teflon) cable using 0.75 mm² conductors. Continuous temperature rating is 300 °C for the lampholder and 180 °C for the cable insulation.
This is the sort of spare part you fit when a socket inside a low-voltage halogen downlight or task light has been heat-stressed over time. The body is 17 mm in diameter and mounts with two 3.3 mm fixing holes on an 11.5 mm center-to-center pattern, which helps when you are matching an existing lamp carrier in a compact fixture.
Key features
- 24 V rating with a maximum current of 4.5 A for low-voltage halogen lighting circuits
- Fits common capsule lamp bases: G4, G5.3, GX5.3, G6.35, and GY6.35
- 140 mm PTFE (Teflon) leads with 0.75 mm² conductors for straightforward splicing inside fixtures
- Continuous temperature ratings: lampholder 300 °C; cable insulation 180 °C
- 17 mm body diameter for compact housings
- Mounting pattern: 3.3 mm fixing holes with 11.5 mm center-to-center spacing
- White body
Compatibility and fit
Confirm your fixture uses one of the supported lamp bases and has room for a 17 mm diameter holder plus the two mounting screws on an 11.5 mm center-to-center pattern. This is a 24 V lampholder for low-voltage lighting circuits and should not be used on 120/230 V mains wiring.
Installation and wiring
Make connections where the wiring stays cooler, not right next to the capsule, and use terminals and sleeving that can handle the heat that halogen lamps generate. Size circuit protection for the lamp load; at 24 V and 4.5 A, the circuit limit is 108 W.
Use on board
This is a practical spare for keeping 24 V halogen downlights, reading lights, and utility lights running on older cruisers and workboats. It also suits refits where the original socket has become brittle or the contacts no longer grip the lamp pins firmly.
Maintenance and checks
During routine checks, look for discoloration on the holder, looseness at the lamp pins, or insulation that has hardened near the hot zone. Replacing a tired lampholder helps avoid intermittent lighting and excess heat at the contact points.
