Overview

The Vimar Plana Series is a flush-mounted dimmer for 120 V AC lighting circuits, with load support for 30 to 500 W incandescent lamps and 30 to 300 VA ferromagnetic transformers. It suits boats and yachts that distribute 120 V power on board and need straightforward light control in interior spaces.

The rotary potentiometer gives manual dimming with a locator that stays visible in darkness, which is useful at night in cabins, passageways, and enclosed helm areas. This is a practical replacement or refit choice when the existing circuit uses incandescent loads or magnetic transformers and you want a control that matches the Plana device format.

The body is compact at 22.3 mm wide, 49 mm high, and 58.5 mm deep, with flush mounting and IP40 protection. That makes it better suited to protected interior locations than to exposed deck areas or washdown zones.

Variants

This product is offered in two finish options for the same Plana dimmer format.

Across both variants, the electrical rating, mounting method, dimensions, and rotary control layout stay the same. The change between versions is the visible finish and surface treatment.

• VM14147: Color White. This version uses glossy thermoplastic with an untreated white surface for a clean, low-contrast look on light-colored interior panels.
• VM14147.SL: Color Silver. This version uses glossy thermoplastic with a lacquered silver surface for installations that call for a metallic-looking trim finish.

Installation and fit

Before ordering, check that the installation is set up for the Plana device format and that the circuit is a 120 V AC lighting circuit. This dimmer is intended for incandescent lamps and ferromagnetic transformers, so it is important to confirm the connected load type before replacing an existing control.

On board, it makes the most sense in protected interior spaces where a flush-mounted wall or panel device is appropriate. It is a sensible fit for cabins, saloons, companionways, and enclosed control areas where light levels need to be adjusted without adding a more complex control system.
