The Vimar VM09974 is a 3-module surface mounting box for Vimar 8000 and Linea components when you need a clean, surface-run install instead of cutting into a bulkhead. The enclosure is 80 mm long, 124 mm wide, and 48 mm deep, with an IP20 protection rating for use in dry, protected interior areas.

It mounts on walls or overhead panels and includes multiple entry points to route wiring neatly into the box. The cover is secured with screws, which helps keep everything closed up when the boat is moving and wiring is tied down properly.

Before ordering, confirm your system uses the 8000 or Linea format and that your selected frame and cover plate are sized for 3 modules.

Installation and setup

Plan cable routing first, then choose the most direct inlet for the run so the conductors enter without sharp bends. If you are mounting to a metallic panel, ensure the surface is properly earthed and keep wiring protected from chafe where it passes through entry points.

Because this is an IP20 enclosure, it belongs in dry interior spaces such as cabins, nav stations, inside lockers, or other protected panels. Avoid mounting where it can see direct spray, dripping lines, or regular washdowns.

Use cases on board

This style of surface box is a good match for refits where you are adding or relocating Vimar modules but do not want to cut into fiberglass, core, or finished joinery. It is also useful when wiring needs to remain accessible behind the plate for future service.
