Overview
The Vimar VM08280 is a 1-pole, 2-way momentary push button with a center OFF position, rated 10 A at 250 V~. It uses 3 terminals and has directional arrows on the actuator, which makes it a natural fit for up and down control at a panel.
This is a built-in, snap-fastened module with an IP40 front, so it belongs in protected interior locations rather than areas that get regular spray or washdowns. The device height is 45 mm and the depth is 43 mm, which is worth checking when you are working in shallow helm pods or tight bulkhead cavities.
The face is matte white (RAL 9001) and the body is halogen-free thermoplastic, a practical choice for cabins and control panels where you want clean labeling and a finish that does not glare under lighting.

Compatibility and fit
This module is part of the Vimar 8000 system, so it is intended to clip into the matching mounting support and sit behind a compatible cover plate and frame. It is a good match for refits that already use Vimar 8000-series devices and need an up and down momentary control that returns to center OFF.
When you are matching finishes across a helm or cabin, the matte white (RAL 9001) face keeps the look consistent with other white 8000-series modules.
Installation and wiring
Plan the wiring around the central OFF position so the load is not energized when the button is released. With three terminals, this style is commonly used in control circuits where one feed is directed to one of two outputs depending on the button position.
Allow enough conductor slack to seat the module fully, especially in panels with limited depth. Use proper strain relief and marine-appropriate conductors and terminations for the environment you are installing in.
Use cases on board
On boats, this style of momentary, center-OFF control is often used for reversing functions such as powered blinds, vents, hatches, and other actuators that are run up and down from a panel. It also works well as a low-current control input to relays or control modules where you want clear direction marking at the switch.
Maintenance and care
Wipe the face with a soft, lightly damp cloth and avoid harsh solvents that can haze thermoplastic finishes. If the installation area is prone to condensation or salt air, periodic checks of terminals and surrounding panel hardware help keep the control station tidy and trouble-free.
