Overview

The Garmin HXAW003R is an Indian Subcontinent coastal chart region in the BlueChart g3 family, available as standard BlueChart g3 or BlueChart g3 Vision in SD card or download formats.

Coverage runs from Pasni, Pakistan, to Sandoway, Myanmar, with additional coverage for Sri Lanka, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, the Chagos Archipelago, and the Maldives (excluding detailed coverage of the Male Atoll). A number of detailed charts are included for areas such as Mangalore, Quilon, and Calcutta.

On board, it adds chart detail that you can use for route planning and day-to-day navigation, including navigation aids, spot soundings, depth contours, tides and currents, and detailed harbor and marina information.

• 010-D0378-00: BlueChart g3 Vision, Download. Provides the Vision feature set via a download that you load to a microSD/SD card using Garmin Express.

Compatibility and fit

This is cartography for Garmin marine units that read BlueChart g3 charts. If your helm has more than one display, confirm which unit will hold the chart card, and make sure the unit you plan to use supports the BlueChart g3 format for supplemental charts.

The SD card variants are intended for systems with a microSD/SD chart slot. If your plotter uses its card slot for other tasks (logging, sonar recordings, software updates), plan for how you will dedicate or rotate cards when underway.

Installation and setup

For the SD card variants, insert the chart card into the chartplotter and select the chart source in your chart menu if your unit offers multiple map sources. The chart data stays on the card, so the card needs to remain installed while you want to view the HXAW003R region.

For the download variants, the chart is installed to a microSD/SD card using Garmin Express, then that card is used in the chartplotter. Only one chart can be installed to a single microSD/SD card, so dedicate a card to this region.

This region makes sense for boats cruising the Indian coastline, running between India and Sri Lanka, or planning offshore legs that involve the Maldives and nearby island groups covered by HXAW003R.
