Overview
The Victron Energy Busbar 150 A 2P is a two-pole DC distribution busbar for bringing battery and equipment connections into one organized point on board. It is rated for 150 A and a maximum voltage of 70 VDC, making it suited to common low-voltage marine DC systems when the circuit protection, cable size, and installation layout are matched to the load.
This busbar uses 1/4 inch / 6.35 mm main terminals for high-current connections and 8-32 / 4.2 mm terminal screws for branch connections. The clear removable cover helps shield the live connection points after installation, which is useful in battery compartments, technical lockers, and other service areas where wiring needs to stay tidy and accessible.
Key features
- 150 A current rating for DC distribution between batteries, chargers, inverters, panels, and onboard DC equipment.
- Two-pole layout supports positive and negative distribution on the same covered busbar assembly.
- 70 VDC maximum voltage rating suits 12 V, 24 V, and 48 V class DC systems when installed within the rated limits.
- 1/4 inch / 6.35 mm main terminal diameter gives a practical connection point for larger ring terminals used in battery and equipment wiring.
- 8-32 / 4.2 mm terminal screws provide multiple smaller take-off points for branch circuits and accessory wiring.
- Stainless steel terminals, tin-plated copper hex nuts, and a tin-plated copper busbar strip support dependable electrical contact in a marine electrical installation.
- Black ABS base with UL 94 V-0 rating and clear polycarbonate cover with UL 94 HB rating.
- Recommended terminal torque is 60 lbf inch / 7 N m for secure connections when using suitable ring terminals.
Variants
This product is offered in two configurations with the same 150 A rating and two-pole layout. The difference is the number of terminal screws, which changes how many smaller branch connections can be landed on the busbar.
Both versions share the same core electrical rating, 70 VDC maximum voltage, 1/4 inch / 6.35 mm main terminal diameter, stainless steel terminal hardware, tin-plated copper busbar strip, black ABS base, and clear removable cover.
- VBB115021020, Current Rating 150 A, Terminal Screws 10. This version suits a more compact installation where fewer branch connections are needed and space in the battery compartment or electrical locker is limited.
- VBB115022020, Current Rating 150 A, Terminal Screws 20. This version gives more branch connection points for a fuller DC distribution layout while keeping the connections on one covered two-pole busbar.
Installation and setup
Mount the busbar in a dry, serviceable location with enough clearance for cable bends, ring terminals, and the removable cover. In marine use, it is commonly placed near the battery bank, DC distribution panel, charger, inverter, or equipment grouping where several DC cables need to be consolidated without stacking too many terminals on one battery post.
Use properly sized marine cable and correctly crimped ring terminals for the circuit current. After routing and securing the cables, tighten the terminals to the specified 60 lbf inch / 7 N m torque and refit the cover so the connection points remain protected from casual contact.
Electrical and system integration
The 70 VDC maximum rating makes this busbar appropriate for many 12 V, 24 V, and 48 V class DC systems, provided the complete installation stays within the product rating. Fuse or breaker protection should be selected for the connected cables and loads, and the busbar should be installed as part of a properly planned DC distribution system rather than used as circuit protection by itself.
It is a practical match for boats where battery, charging, inverter, solar, navigation, communications, or general DC accessory wiring needs a cleaner connection point. The two-pole format helps keep positive and negative distribution close together, which can make inspection and troubleshooting easier later.
Materials and care
The busbar strip is tin-plated copper, with stainless steel terminal hardware and tin-plated copper hex nuts. The base is black ABS and the removable cover is clear polycarbonate, so connections can be checked visually without leaving the conductive parts exposed during normal use.
For marine service, inspect the terminals during routine electrical checks for looseness, heat marks, corrosion, or damaged insulation. Keep the cover in place after maintenance, and replace any compromised terminals or cables before the system is returned to service.
