Overview
The Victron Energy Busbar 250 A 2P with cover is a two-pole DC busbar for distributing battery and DC equipment feeds on board. It gives installers a clean positive and negative distribution point for systems that need multiple takeoffs without stacking too many cables on battery posts, switch studs, chargers, inverters, or DC panel connections.
This busbar is rated for 250 A and 70 VDC, which suits many 12 V, 24 V, and 48 V DC installations when the full system design stays within those limits. Each pole uses 5/16 inch / 8 mm terminal studs for the main cable connections, with stainless steel terminals, tin-plated copper hex nuts, and a tin-plated copper busbar strip sized at 6.35 x 25 mm.
The black ABS base has a UL 94 V-0 flame rating, and the included black ABS cover has a UL 94 V-2 flame rating. In a marine electrical locker, battery compartment, or under-console installation, the cover helps keep the distribution point tidy and reduces accidental contact with exposed conductors.
Key features
- 250 A current rating with a 70 VDC maximum voltage rating for high-current DC distribution on board.
- Two-pole layout lets positive and negative feeds be organized in one covered assembly.
- 5/16 inch / 8 mm terminal studs suit common battery cable lugs used in marine DC systems.
- 10-24 / 4.8 mm terminal screws provide multiple branch connection points, depending on the selected version.
- Tin-plated copper busbar strip supports low-resistance current distribution in a compact footprint.
- Stainless steel terminal hardware helps the connection points stand up to the damp and vibration found around boats.
- Recommended terminal torque is 110 lbf-in / 13 N-m for proper mechanical contact during installation.
- Removable cover helps shield the live busbar area after wiring and inspection are complete.
Variants
This busbar is offered in two configurations with the same 250 A rating and two-pole format. The difference is the number of terminal screws available for branch circuit or equipment connections.
The core electrical rating, stud diameter, terminal materials, busbar strip material, and ABS base and cover materials remain the same across these two versions. Overall size and weight change with the screw count.
- VBB125020620 has a 250 A current rating and 6 terminal screws. This version suits installations with fewer branch connections and has dimensions with cover of 65 x 216 x 86 mm, with a weight of 0.25 kg.
- VBB125021220 has a 250 A current rating and 12 terminal screws. This version gives more connection points in the same two-pole format and has dimensions with cover of 48 x 237 x 70 mm, with a weight of 0.35 kg.
Installation and setup
Mount the busbar on a flat surface that keeps cable runs short, supported, and serviceable. Leave enough room around the studs and terminal screws for proper lug alignment, insulation boots where used, and future inspection with the cover removed.
Use cable, terminals, overcurrent protection, and torque practices that match the vessel electrical plan and the current carried by each circuit. In battery and inverter areas, this busbar is most useful when the goal is to separate distribution from the battery posts and create a clearer point for inspection and troubleshooting.
Compatibility and fit
This is a DC distribution component, not an AC mains busbar and not a fuse holder. It is a good match for boat owners, marine electricians, and refit projects that need a cleaner way to consolidate battery, charger, inverter, solar controller, DC panel, or equipment feeds within a 250 A and 70 VDC limit.
Before installation, confirm the number of required branch connections, the available mounting space, the lug hole size, and the conductor sizes planned for the system. The 6-screw version keeps the layout simpler, while the 12-screw version allows more circuits to land at the same distribution point.
