Overview
The Garmin 010-02880-10 is a 10-inch ECHOMAP Ultra 2 chartplotter and LiveScope Plus bundle built for anglers who want charts and live-scanning sonar on one helm display. The chartplotter runs on 9 to 18 Vdc (12 V systems) and carries an IPX7 water rating, so it holds up well at the console where spray and quick rinses are part of normal boat life.
You get a 1280 x 800 touchscreen display in a housing that measures 295 x 195 x 98 mm (11.6 x 7.7 x 3.9 in.), plus built-in Garmin Navionics+ mapping and two microSD card slots for additional charts and saved data. LiveScope Plus is handled by the included GLS 10 sonar module and LVS34 transducer, with a rated maximum depth/distance up to 61 m (200 ft.) depending on conditions.
Key features
- 10-inch touchscreen display with 1280 x 800 resolution for clear split-screen chart and sonar layouts.
- Chartplotter input voltage: 9 to 18 Vdc (typical current draw 2.3 A at 12 Vdc; max 5 A peak).
- IPX7 water rating and polycarbonate construction for exposed helm mounting.
- Two microSD card slots with support up to 1 TB card size.
- NMEA 2000 port and NMEA 0183 support for tying into common marine sensors and electronics.
- Garmin Marine Network port for connecting to the GLS 10 module and sharing data across compatible equipment.
- GLS 10 sonar module power input: 10 to 32 Vdc (21 W typical power usage).
- LiveScope Plus LVS34 transducer operates from 530 to 1,100 kHz with a 135 degree front-to-back field of view.
- Wireless sharing with compatible ECHOMAP Ultra 2 or ECHOMAP UHD2 units for user data and sonar.
What’s included
- ECHOMAP Ultra 2 10-inch chartplotter with Garmin Navionics+ mapping
- GLS 10 sonar module
- LiveScope Plus LVS34 transducer
Installation and setup
For a clean helm install, plan for at least 150 mm (5.9 in.) of clearance behind the chartplotter so the connectors and cables are not forced into a tight bend. Power is 9 to 18 Vdc and the chartplotter uses an 8 A fast-blow fuse on the power lead.
Mount the GLS 10 module in a dry, protected area where the network and transducer cables can be routed without sharp edges or constant flex. Leaving unused ports capped and using the supplied ferrite beads near the connectors helps reduce corrosion risk and electrical noise in real-world boat wiring.
Compatibility and system integration
The chartplotter includes connections for NMEA 2000, Garmin Marine Network, and a combined power and NMEA 0183 harness. LiveScope Plus data travels from the GLS 10 module to the chartplotter over Garmin Marine Network, so make sure you have the network cabling and routing space to link the black box back to the helm.
This bundle focuses on LiveScope, and the display also has a 12-pin transducer port for traditional CHIRP and ClearVü and SideVü sonar when a compatible transducer is installed. If you want those sonar views in addition to LiveScope, plan for the appropriate transducer for your hull and mounting location.
On 24 V boats, the GLS 10 can be powered directly (10 to 32 Vdc input), while the chartplotter needs a 12 V feed that stays within its 9 to 18 Vdc input range.
Use cases on board
This setup is a good match for bass boats, bay boats, and offshore-capable fishing rigs where you want to scan structure ahead, track fish in real time, and keep charts on the same screen without juggling separate displays. The LVS34 transducer field of view and frequency range work well for following targets and bait movement as you work a shoreline, a reef edge, or a dock line.
Maintenance and care
After saltwater use, rinse the display and exposed cabling with fresh water and let everything dry before covering. Periodically check cable strain relief at the helm and at the GLS 10 module so vibration does not loosen connections over time.
