The Hella Marine 9073 is a recessed LED strip lamp with a wide rim for flush mounting as a courtesy or utility light on boats. It is offered in 12V DC and 24V DC versions, with power consumption under 2.0W and current draw under 0.16A at 12V or under 0.08A at 24V.

The housing is UV and impact resistant plastic and the lamp comes pre-wired with 2.5 m of twin core marine cable for routing to a switch, dimmer, or an existing lighting circuit. Voltage varies between 12V DC and 24V DC, and light colour varies between red and white.

Installation and setup

This is a recess mount lamp with a wide rim that covers the edges of the mounting opening. Confirm you have clearance behind the mounting surface for the lamp body and cable bend radius, then mark and drill the mounting holes based on the 238 mm hole centres. Tighten fasteners evenly so the rim sits flat against the surface, and avoid over-tightening so the lens area is not stressed.

On exposed exterior surfaces, keeping the bedding surface clean and flat helps prevent water from tracking behind the panel. Route the cable away from sharp edges and moving gear, and support it along the run to reduce vibration wear.

Electrical and system integration

Wire the lamp with correct polarity so it illuminates as intended. Protect the circuit with an inline fuse rated at 2 A maximum. For 12V versions, avoid sustained voltage above 16V; for 24V versions, avoid sustained voltage above 30V.

If you are tying into an existing lighting circuit, check voltage drop on longer runs and confirm your switch or dimmer is rated for DC LED loads. The low current draw is helpful for courtesy and night lighting circuits that stay on for long periods.
