Overview
The Vimar Idea is a 2-module coaxial TV-RD-SAT socket outlet for a single incoming feed with separate TV-RD male and SAT female F-type outputs. It works across 5 to 2400 MHz and carries 1 dB attenuation, which keeps signal loss low at the outlet while handling terrestrial TV, radio, and satellite distribution in one point.
The SAT side also allows the passage of d.c. current and control signals up to 24 V and 500 mA. That matters in installations where the coax line is also used to power an active antenna or satellite component. On board, this type of outlet makes sense at an interior entertainment point where you want a fixed, tidy connection instead of loose coax leads.
Key features
- 5 to 2400 MHz coaxial outlet for combined TV, radio, and satellite systems
- Single input with demixed dual outputs: male TV-RD and female F-type SAT
- 1 dB tap loss at 860 MHz and 2150 MHz
- Female SAT connector passes d.c. current and control signals up to 24 V, 500 mA
- 2-module format with snap mounting
- Plastic body with a device size of 49.8 x 50.0 x 39.2 mm
Variants
This outlet is offered in two color configurations within the same Idea 2-module format.
Across both versions, the connector layout, frequency range, attenuation, snap-mounting format, and body dimensions stay the same. The visible change is the finish color.
- VM16307.01.B: Color Ivory. This version has a light finish with an off-white tone that sits more quietly in cream or light-colored interior panels.
- VM16307.01: Color Gray. This version has a darker finish that blends more naturally with gray switch panels and utility spaces.
Installation and fit
This is a snap-mounting device with a compact body, so it suits neat flush installations where panel space is limited. Check that the mounting point is set up for a 2-module Idea device and that there is enough room behind the panel for the rear coax connections and cable bend radius.
Because the outlet separates TV-RD and SAT at the faceplate, it is useful where the boat already has a combined coax feed routed to the cabin or saloon. It gives a fixed handoff point for televisions, radios, or satellite receivers without adding separate loose adapters at the wall.
Use on board
This outlet is a good match for refits and new builds that already use Vimar Idea devices and need a dedicated TV-RD-SAT connection at an interior media point. It fits best in protected cabin spaces, saloon joinery, or other indoor panels where a clean coax termination is more useful than an exposed cable end.
