Overview
The Blue Sea Systems ELCI Main 30A Double Pole is a 120V AC shore power breaker panel range built around a 30A double-pole ELCI main breaker with 30 mA leakage-trip protection. It is made for boats that need main AC shore-power protection at the point where power comes aboard, with configurations for a basic main panel, added branch positions, or local voltage monitoring.
Each panel uses an ELCI main residual current circuit breaker for overcurrent and leakage protection per ABYC E-11 whole-boat shore power requirements. A red Reverse Polarity LED helps flag incorrect shore-power polarity at the panel, while backlit circuit label positions and ON indicator LEDs make the AC panel easier to read in an electrical locker, cabin, or helm-area installation.
Key features
- 120V AC panel range with one 30A AC ELCI main residual current circuit breaker in each configuration.
- 30 mA leakage-trip rating for whole-boat shore power protection under ABYC E-11.
- Double-pole main breaker format for 120V AC shore-power feeds.
- Red Reverse Polarity LED gives a clear panel warning when shore-power polarity is incorrect.
- Backlit circuit labels and ON indicator LEDs help with quick checks in low-light locations on board.
- Available in 1, 2, and 5 position layouts, with an AC voltmeter included on the 8102 configuration.
- Traditional metal panel format can be used when extending an existing AC panel or replacing a full panel layout.
Variants
This ELCI/GFCI breaker panel is offered in three configurations so the panel layout can match the available space and the number of AC circuits being managed.
The main protection remains centered on a 30A ELCI breaker with a 30 mA leakage-trip rating across the range. The main differences are the number of panel positions, the panel size, and whether the layout includes an AC voltmeter.
- 8100, Positions: 1. This configuration keeps the layout focused on the ELCI main breaker and uses the smallest listed panel size at 5.25 in high, 3.75 in wide, and 3.50 in deep.
- 8102, Positions: 2. This version adds two positions and an AC voltmeter rated 0 to 150V AC, giving the operator a local voltage reading at the shore-power panel.
- 8101, Positions: 5. This layout provides the highest position count in the range for installations that need additional AC circuit capacity at the main panel.
Electrical protection
An ELCI main breaker is used to detect leakage current outside the intended circuit path and disconnect the AC supply when the leakage reaches the trip level. On a boat connected to shore power, that matters because faults can involve the vessel, the dock supply, and the surrounding water, not just the appliance or branch circuit where the issue begins.
The 30A rating fits common 120V AC shore-power systems, while the 30 mA leakage-trip rating supports whole-boat protection rather than only protecting individual receptacle circuits. The red reverse-polarity indication is especially useful when moving between docks or marinas where shore-power wiring conditions may vary.
Installation and fit
Match the selected configuration to the boat's 120V AC system, available panel space, and rear clearance before installation. The 8100 uses a smaller face size, while the 8101 and 8102 use a larger face size to accommodate added positions or the voltmeter. All listed configurations have a 3.50 in depth and a 2.25 lb weight.
This panel range is a practical fit for refits, shore-power safety upgrades, and AC panel replacements on cruising boats, fishing boats, and dockside-use vessels where a clear main disconnect, leakage protection, and polarity indication are needed in one panel location.
