Overview
The i2Systems Apeiron Pro XL A526 is a recessed LED downlight that draws 6W from an 18-30VDC supply, with a wide 120 degree beam meant to light larger onboard spaces with fewer fixtures.
It uses a spring-mount system for a clean, trimless look once installed, and it is built for wet marine environments with an IP67-rated front. The trim is stainless steel and the housing is anodized aluminum, with a tempered-glass lens and diffuser. It is not intended for submersible locations or areas where water can stand around the fixture.
White output is available in 3000K warm white, 4000K neutral white, or 5700K cool white. Some configurations add red and or blue as extra colors, which can be handy when you want lower-glare night lighting or a distinct accent tone without running extra conductors.
Key features
- 6W LED downlight with 18-30VDC input (suited to 24V DC systems)
- Wide 120 degree beam for more even coverage across cabins, cockpits, and pilot houses
- IP67-rated front for washdowns and damp locations (not for submersion or standing water)
- Spring-mount installation with a 4.45 in cutout requirement and about 1.33 in mounting depth
- Stainless steel trim, anodized aluminum housing, and tempered-glass diffuser lens
- 9 in 18 AWG leads for straightforward splicing into existing lighting circuits
- Dimming down to low levels (to 1%) with compatible dimmers and control systems
- Offered in single-white or multi-color (white with red and or blue) configurations, plus several trim finishes
Variants
The A526 range is offered in multiple lighting and finish combinations. Light output varies by white color temperature (warm 3000K, neutral 4000K, or cool 5700K), and some versions add red and or blue as additional colors for night operation or accent lighting.
Finish options across this family include polished chrome, brushed nickel, and white. The core format remains the same within the A526 lineup: a 6W spring-mount downlight for 18-30VDC systems with an IP67-rated front and a wide beam.
Compatibility and fit
This fixture requires an 18-30VDC feed, which matches a nominal 24V DC boat system. For 12V-only installations, plan on a suitable DC-DC solution so the fixture sees the correct voltage range.
Measure the mounting location before ordering: the installation calls for a 4.45 in cutout and about 1.33 in depth behind the panel. The 6 in round bezel is sized to cover the cutout cleanly, which helps on refits where you want to hide an older opening.
Installation and setup
The spring clips hold the light in place once the hole is cut and the wiring is landed. Leave enough service loop to pull the fixture down for access later, and make all connections with marine-grade terminals and heat-shrink in areas that see moisture or vibration.
In exposed overhead locations like hardtops and arches, keep splices out of the immediate drip path and avoid mounting where water can pool. A simple bead of appropriate sealant around the cutout can help keep moisture from migrating into the core material of the panel.
Electrical and system integration
The A526 is commonly run from a standard two-wire lighting circuit. With compatible dimming control, it can dim down to very low output for night running or quiet cabin use.
For multi-color versions, color selection is handled through the control method used on the circuit, then the chosen color can be dimmed. This is a good match for installations that want red or blue available without adding extra wiring runs.
Use on board
This format is well suited to pilot houses, larger salons, cabins, cockpits, and under hardtops where a wider beam helps reduce hot spots. It also fits well for owners doing a refit who want a larger downlight footprint with modern trim finishes.
Maintenance and care
Wipe the lens and bezel with fresh water and a soft cloth after salt exposure. Avoid abrasive cleaners on finished trims, and check that the mounting springs remain secure if the panel material compresses over time.
