Overview
The Raymarine A80007 is a HS5 RayNet marine network switch for linking multiple Raymarine Ethernet devices into a single onboard network. It has five waterproof RayNet ports, with ports 1 to 4 supporting 10/100 Mbit/s and port 5 supporting 10/100/1000 Mbit/s for higher-bandwidth links between switches in larger systems.
This switch is a practical hub for boats running multiple multifunction displays, radar, sonar modules, thermal cameras, or other Ethernet-based marine electronics. It supports 12V and 24V DC systems, with a 10.8V to 31.2V DC operating range, so it fits common vessel power arrangements without needing a separate voltage model.
The HS5 is built for exposed marine electronics locations, with an IPx6 and IPx7 waterproof rating, front status and speed LEDs, and a compact footprint of 252.5 mm x 88.6 mm x 75.0 mm. It is a good match for helm stations, electronics lockers, hardtop installations, and other network locations where RayNet cabling needs to stay organized and serviceable.
Key features
- Five RayNet Ethernet ports for connecting displays, radar scanners, sonar modules, thermal cameras, and other compatible network devices.
- Ports 1 to 4 support 10/100 Mbit/s, while port 5 supports 10/100/1000 Mbit/s for linking multiple HS5 switches in expanded networks.
- IPx6 and IPx7 waterproof rating helps protect the switch in marine locations exposed to spray, washdowns, and damp air.
- Runs on 12V or 24V DC vessel power with a 10.8V to 31.2V DC operating range.
- Status and speed LEDs for each port make it easier to check network activity during installation or troubleshooting.
- Compatible with RayNet devices directly, and with RJ45 or SeaTalk HS Ethernet devices when the correct adapter cables are used.
- Conforms to IEEE 802.3 Ethernet networking standards.
Electrical and network integration
The HS5 is made for Raymarine Ethernet networks using RayNet connectors. Devices with RayNet ports connect with RayNet network cables, while equipment using RJ45 or SeaTalk HS connectors requires the appropriate adapter cable. This matters when refitting an older Raymarine network or adding newer RayNet displays to an existing electronics package.
Port 5 is the high-bandwidth port and is the sensible connection point when two HS5 switches are used together. This helps keep the network layout tidy on boats with electronics spread between the helm, flybridge, cabin, and equipment spaces.
Installation and fit
The unit can be mounted where the RayNet cables are protected, supported, and easy to reach for service. Its dimensions of 252.5 mm x 88.6 mm x 75.0 mm make it compact enough for many electronics lockers, but the cable bend radius and connector clearance should be considered before drilling or final mounting.
For power protection, the inline fuse rating is 2A on 12V systems and 1A on 24V systems. The supplied 2 m power cable gives installers a straightforward starting point for connection to a suitable DC distribution point.
What’s included
- HS5 network switch
- Documentation pack
- M4 fixing screws, 8.94 x 25 mm
- 2 m power cable
Use on board
This switch suits vessels where several Raymarine network devices need to share data without a messy run of point-to-point cables. Typical use includes expanding a chartplotter network, adding radar or sonar hardware, linking a thermal camera, or organizing a larger helm electronics upgrade.
For coastal cruising, fishing, or offshore electronics layouts, the main benefit is a cleaner network backbone with visible port activity and a waterproof housing suited to the marine environment.
