Overview
The Raymarine A80732 is an RNS-8 8-port Gigabit RayNet network switch for expanding and organizing a Raymarine onboard Ethernet network. It gives Axiom displays, radar, sonar modules, FLIR thermal cameras, YachtSense equipment, and compatible Raymarine accessories a central place to connect, with eight RayNet Gigabit ports and four dedicated PoE ports for devices such as CAM300 marine IP cameras and RMK-10 remote keypads.
The unit runs from 12V or 24V DC systems, with a 9V to 31.2V DC operating range and a separate PoE operating range of 10.8V to 31.2V DC. Maximum power draw is 160W at 12V DC or 150W at 24V DC, so it belongs on a properly protected electronics circuit rather than an undersized accessory feed.
With IPX6 and IPX7 water ingress protection, waterproof RayNet cable ports, and a bulkhead-mount layout, this switch is suited to protected helm areas, electronics lockers, and other onboard locations where spray, vibration, and tight routing space are part of the installation.
Key features
- Eight RayNet Ethernet ports support Gigabit data connections across compatible Raymarine displays, sensors, cameras, and network modules.
- Four dedicated PoE ports can power compatible devices such as CAM300 cameras and RMK-10 remote keypads through the network connection.
- Unmanaged plug-and-play operation keeps setup simple when adding it to a Raymarine network.
- IPX6 and IPX7 water ingress protection helps the switch handle washdown exposure and damp marine spaces when installed correctly.
- LED indicators show power and network port status for easier checks during installation and troubleshooting.
- Remote diagnostics and performance monitoring are available through a web browser.
- Up to eight RNS-8 switches can be daisy-chained for larger Raymarine network layouts.
Electrical and network integration
The RNS-8 uses 10-pin RayNet connectors for the network ports and supports 1 Gigabit connection speed. It is made for Raymarine Ethernet-based systems and can also be used with legacy SeaTalkHS equipment when the correct adaptor cable is used.
For circuit protection, the inline fuse rating is 15A on 12V DC systems and 8A on 24V DC systems. Thermal breaker ratings are 20A for 12V DC and 10A for 24V DC. These values matter during refits, especially when several PoE devices are powered from the same switch.
Installation and fit
The housing measures 287.63 mm long, 125.5 mm high, and 78 mm deep, with a weight of 0.96 kg. The bulkhead-mount format works well behind a helm, inside an electronics cabinet, or near the main network cable run where multiple RayNet leads can be routed cleanly.
Port separation is 17.38 mm, which helps when planning cable bends and service access. Leave enough working space around the connectors so RayNet cables can be installed without sharp strain at the backshells.
Marine environment
The operating temperature range is -25°C to +55°C, with storage from -30°C to +70°C. Humidity resistance is rated up to 93 percent at 40°C, which is useful for boats that see warm cabins, damp lockers, and seasonal layup conditions.
This switch is a good match for owners building a larger Raymarine electronics network on cruising boats, fishing boats, and multi-display helm stations where several Ethernet devices need a stable connection point.
