Overview
The Garmin B60-20-6G is a thru-hull transducer with a bronze housing for traditional 50/200 kHz sonar and water temperature. It is rated at 600 W RMS and uses a 20° tilted element so the beam points straight down on hulls with a 16° to 24° deadrise, without the extra height and drag of a fairing block.
The housing sits nearly flush with the hull with about 5 mm (3/16") outside the hull. At 50 kHz it uses a wide 45° beam for depth performance, and at 200 kHz it uses a 12° beam for tighter target detail, with depth capability up to about 1,200 ft at 50 kHz and about 700 ft at 200 kHz depending on conditions and bottom type.
This version terminates in a Garmin 6-pin connector and is intended for fiberglass or wood hulls. It is not recommended for metal hulls.
Key features
- Traditional dual-frequency sonar: 50/200 kHz, 600 W RMS, with depth and fast-response water temperature sensing
- 20° tilted element for hull deadrise angles of 16° to 24° to keep the beam vertical without a fairing block
- Thru-hull bronze housing that sits nearly flush, with about 5 mm (3/16") protrusion to keep drag down
- Beamwidths: 45° at 50 kHz and 12° at 200 kHz
- Depth performance up to about 1,200 ft at 50 kHz and about 700 ft at 200 kHz, conditions permitting
- Garmin 6-pin connector for compatible sounders with a 6-pin transducer port
Installation and setup
Plan on inside-hull access for the backing washer and nut, and pick a location that stays in clean water flow at speed and is clear of strakes, steps, and trailer bunks. The standard cutout through a solid fiberglass or wood hull uses a 60 mm (2-3/8") hole saw; cored hulls typically require a larger interior counterbore so the core can be sealed and protected.
On 20° models, align the arrow on the top of the housing and the cable exit toward the keel or centerline so the internal tilt matches your hull deadrise. Bed the flange with marine sealant, tighten appropriately for the hull material, and check for leaks as soon as the boat is back in the water.
Compatibility and use on board
This transducer is a practical match for boats running conventional 50/200 kHz sonar that need a thru-hull install with built-in deadrise correction. It is commonly used on center consoles, walkarounds, and other planing hulls where a low-profile housing helps maintain running performance.
Confirm that your sonar module or display supports 50/200 kHz and has a Garmin 6-pin transducer connection before ordering. If your electronics use a different connector style, an adapter may be required.
Maintenance and care
Keep the transducer face clean for consistent bottom tracking. If you apply antifouling paint, use a water-based formula that is safe for transducer faces and avoid ketone-based paints. Inspect the bedding area during haul-outs and recoat as needed.
