Overview
The Simrad Suncover is a protective front cover made for specific Simrad displays and control heads so the face stays covered when the unit is not in use.
This range includes covers for Cruise 5", Cruise 7", and Cruise 9" displays, plus options matched to GO series units, including separate covers for GO7 flush-mount and GO7 gimbal-bracket installations.
On a helm where electronics are exposed between trips, it helps keep the screen clean and reduces scuffs from normal dockside life like lines, rods, and canvas hardware.
Key features
- Model-matched suncover options across multiple Simrad electronics families, including chartplotters, instruments, autopilot controllers, and VHF.
- Covers the face of the unit while parked, helping limit sun exposure and keeping salt film and dock grime off the screen.
- Separate fit options where mounting style matters, such as GO7 flush-mount versus GO7 gimbal-bracket mounting.
- Cruise-series coverage includes dedicated fits for 5", 7", and 9" displays.
- No wiring or power connection required.
Variants
Suncover fit is specific to the Simrad device listed in the variant name. Some variants also reflect how the unit is mounted, which changes the bezel shape and cover fit.
Available fits in this range include A2004/AP48, AP24/IS20/IS70, AP44, IS35, GO5, GO7 (flush mount and bracket mount), GO9 XSE, GO12 XSE, NSS7, NSS9, NSS12, NSX 3007, NSX 3009, NSX 3012, Cruise 5, Cruise 7, Cruise 9, and RS20 VHF.
Compatibility and fit
Match the suncover to the exact model name on your unit’s front bezel, not just the screen size. Units with the same diagonal size can use different bezels and button layouts, and the cover has to match that face shape.
If you have a GO7, confirm whether the display is mounted on a gimbal bracket or installed flush in a dash cutout, then select the corresponding cover style.
Installation and day-to-day use
The suncover is meant for protection when the boat is unattended or stored. Put it on after shutdown and remove it before operating the electronics so you can see the display and access keys normally.
Maintenance and care
Rinse off grit and salt with fresh water before wiping. A mild soap wash is fine when needed. Avoid harsh solvents that can haze plastics.
Use cases on board
This is a good match for boats that live on a lift, mooring, or trailer, where helm electronics sit in the sun between runs. It also helps on saltwater boats where dried spray and airborne salt build up on screens quickly.
