Overview
The Garmin 010-10300-00 is a fixed marine mount that holds select Garmin handheld GPS units at the helm with a bracket that swivels and tilts to help you keep the screen in view. A locking mechanism keeps the unit from working loose when the boat is vibrating, pounding, or taking spray.
This mount accepts an optional external power adapter for quick connection to a boat DC power supply, which helps when you want the handheld powered at the console instead of relying only on batteries.
Compatible units include GPS 72, GPS 72H, GPS 76, GPSMAP 76, GPSMAP 76CS, GPSMAP 76CSx, GPSMAP 76Cx, GPSMAP 76S, GPSMAP 96, and GPSMAP 96C.
Key features
- Swivel and tilt adjustment so the display can be aimed toward your normal driving position
- Locking mechanism that helps keep the GPS seated when running through chop
- Supports quick DC power connection when used with an optional external power adapter
- Fit is matched to specific Garmin handheld models: GPS 72/72H/76 and GPSMAP 76 and 96 series units (including 76CS, 76CSx, 76Cx, 76S, and 96C)
Compatibility and fit
This mount is not a universal cradle. Confirm the exact model name on your handheld before ordering, especially within the GPSMAP 76 family where several versions look similar. If your unit is one of the compatible models listed above, the mount gives you a consistent place to dock the GPS where it is easy to glance at course, speed, and position while underway.
Installation and setup
Plan the mounting location so the unit can tilt without hitting a windshield frame, throttle controls, or a companionway slider. On an open center console or small wheelhouse, a spot that stays readable from the helm while keeping the unit out of high-traffic areas usually works best.
If you are adding external power, route the adapter lead so it will not chafe on sharp edges or get pinched by a hatch. Leave a little slack at the mount so the swivel and tilt range is not restricted.
Use on board
This mount is a practical fit for skippers who run a handheld GPS at the helm on smaller powerboats, tenders, and fishing boats where a full-size chartplotter is not installed. It also works well on sailboats that want a removable handheld in the cockpit for quick checks without dedicating panel space to a larger display.
Maintenance and care
After salty runs, a quick rinse with fresh water helps keep grit out of the moving parts and makes the locking mechanism feel consistent. Periodically check that the mount remains tight to the surface you installed it on, especially if it lives in a spot that sees regular vibration.
