Overview
The Garmin 010-12528-01 is a 6 m (20 ft) Garmin Marine Network (Ethernet) cable with small connectors for linking compatible Garmin displays and network peripherals on the same marine network.
It is used to connect devices that share data across the Garmin Marine Network, such as chartplotter stations and network accessories like radar, sonar modules, and marine cameras. This is a data cable only; each device on the network still needs its own power connection.
Key features
- 6 m (20 ft) length to cover common helm-to-bow, helm-to-transom, or dual-station routing paths
- Small Garmin Marine Network connectors on both ends for equipment that uses the compact network port
- Ethernet-style network link for sharing data between compatible Garmin Marine Network devices
- Can be extended by joining two small-connector network cables with a coupler (sold separately)
- Useful as a replacement cable when re-routing electronics or cleaning up an older network run
Installation and setup
Measure the full routing path before committing to cable length, including vertical rises and a small service loop at each end for future access. Route the cable away from sharp edges, moving parts, and high-heat areas, and protect it with chafe guard or grommets where it passes through bulkheads.
Seat each connector fully and keep the mating surfaces clean before tightening by hand until snug. Avoid pulling on the connector body when fishing the cable through tight conduits; pull from the cable jacket and guide the connector through carefully.
Compatibility and fit
This cable fits Garmin Marine Network ports that use the small connector style. It does not mate directly with Garmin Marine Network equipment that uses the larger connector, so mixed-connector installations require an appropriate adapter at the transition.
Use cases on board
This cable is a practical fit when a standard short network lead will not reach between a helm display and a remotely mounted network device, or when adding a second station at a tower, nav desk, or aft helm. It suits boats that are building out a Garmin Marine Network where small-connector ports are used throughout the system.
