Overview
The Garmin BlueChart g3 HD Navigation Chart HXAE003R is a coastal navigation chart package that covers Mainland China from Macau to Shanghai, the full coast of Taiwan, the Ryukyu Islands to the east, and the Babuyan Islands to the south.
It adds chart detail such as depth contours, spot soundings, aids to navigation and IALA symbols, plus tide stations, currents, and harbor or marina information where it is available in the chart data. The chart boundary includes Hong Kong, but chart data around Hong Kong is excluded.
This chart is offered as either a preprogrammed SD card or as a download that is installed to a memory card using Garmin Express. You can also choose between BlueChart g3 and BlueChart g3 Vision, with Vision adding extra on-screen presentation layers on compatible chartplotters.
Key features
- Coverage for Macau to Shanghai, the entire Taiwan coastline, the Ryukyu Islands, and the Babuyan Islands (Hong Kong area excluded from chart data).
- Available in BlueChart g3 or BlueChart g3 Vision versions for the same HXAE003R region.
- BlueChart g3 Vision adds extra chart presentation features such as 3D views, high-resolution relief shading, and select imagery layers like aerial photos and satellite imagery on supported plotters.
- Depth Range Shading for up to 10 depth ranges, plus user-defined Shallow Water Shading for quick depth awareness.
- Up to 1-foot contours for clearer bottom detail in areas where the data supports it.
- Includes navigation and fishing-style chart content such as depth contours, tides, currents, and port or marina details where available.
- Choose SD Card for plug-in use, or Download for installation to a microSD/SD card via Garmin Express.
Variants
This chart is offered in multiple configurations so you can match the delivery format and feature set to your Garmin setup.
Options vary by BlueChart version (BlueChart g3 or BlueChart g3 Vision) and by format (SD Card or Download). All configurations correspond to the HXAE003R Taiwan coverage region.
- 010-C0878-20: BlueChart g3, SD Card. This is the preprogrammed card format for chartplotters with a compatible card slot.
- 010-D0329-00: BlueChart g3, Download. Installed using Garmin Express to a microSD/SD card and unlocked for the chartplotter it is registered to.
- 010-C0878-00: BlueChart g3 Vision, SD Card. Adds the Vision feature set for supported chartplotters while keeping the same regional coverage.
- 010-D0365-00: BlueChart g3 Vision, Download. Installed using Garmin Express to a microSD/SD card and unlocked for the chartplotter it is registered to.
Compatibility and fit
This is cartography for compatible Garmin chartplotters (and supported Garmin marine handhelds). Confirm your device supports BlueChart g3 and has the appropriate microSD or SD card slot for the format you plan to use.
If you are using the Download format, the chart is installed to a microSD/SD card with Garmin Express, and only one chart can be installed per memory card. Downloaded charts are unlocked to the chartplotter they are registered to, and they will not display if the card is moved to a different device.
When used in the correct chartplotter, the chart can be shared across a Garmin marine network so other compatible displays on the network can view the mapping without needing a second copy.
Installation and setup
For the SD Card format, insert the card into the chartplotter and select the chart layer from the chart or map settings. Many features are controlled on the plotter itself, such as depth shading ranges and shallow water shading, so you can tune the display to your draft and how you run your boat.
For the Download format, use Garmin Express on a computer to install the chart to a microSD/SD card. Keep that card with the chartplotter it is registered to if you want the chart to appear on the device and be shared over the network.
Use cases on board
This chart is a practical match for cruisers, anglers, and delivery skippers running Taiwan waters, the Taiwan Strait, and nearby island groups who want consistent chart detail when moving between major ports and coastal approaches. It is also useful for boats that split time between Taiwanese waters and nearby East China Sea routes, where tides, currents, and bottom contour detail matter day to day.
